The article analyzes the significance, role and place of the phenomenon of the shepherd's horn in the cultural space of the Vladimir region. The purpose of the study is to study the origin, essence and functions of the shepherd's horn in the context of ideological, material, spiritual, mental and socio-economic paradigms of the functioning of folk culture at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The relevance lies in the need for a detailed study of the phenomena of the traditional ethnic culture of the peoples of Russia, located at the intersection of spiritual and material (material) heritage. In the context of a radical reassessment of socio-cultural values, it is quite natural to turn to a rethinking of the concrete historical culturally conditioned value orientations of Russian society. The relevance of the study, in the author's opinion, goes beyond the boundaries of the cultural context, since the issues raised in it are also significant for related areas of humanitarian knowledge: regional studies, Russian history, ethnology, economic geography, sociology. Attention is drawn to the need to include the potential of little-known elements of the cultural heritage of the country's regions in the development of domestic and inbound tourism in the Russian Federation. The author comes to the conclusion about the most important social function of traditional culture in ensuring the civil unity of society, intercultural integration and the formation of the patriotic position of Russians. The materials of the publication can, in the author's opinion, enrich not only relevant comprehensive scientific research on various cultural contexts of Russians, but also help in writing generalizing works in the field of social functions of ethnocultural traditions.
