The impact of the demonstration of willingness to understand interests of a dialogue partner on the dynamics of argument settlement

The article presents results of the research studying how demonstrated willingness to understand the interests of an interlocutor affect the course of settlement of disputes. The pairs, who took part in a double-blind randomized research, carried out communication aimed at resolution of an argument. One of the participants (active) in a random order was given a card that suggested to follow the guidelines previously selected by experts, while second party knew nothing about it. As a result of fulfilment of the assignment, the active participants noted formation of the feeling that they had really demonstrated a greater willingness to understand the interests of an opponent, also, after following the guidelines these participants had a sense of greater satisfaction with the dialogue. At the same time the research didn't record any variations of studied parameters in relatively passive participants.
