There is an active search for sensitive and cheap ways for laboratory diagnostics of fish stress in modern veterinary medicine. Because of this assessing effects of catecholamine response on osmotic resistance of tilapia erythrocytes under induced stress is relevant. It has been found that the catecholamine response of tilapia to stress modulation is ambiguous and indicators variability in different fish is too high due to sensitivity of these hormones. Changes in osmotic resistance of erythrocytes (RE) when exposed to cortisol are quite noticeable and reliable and are also closely related to the level of adrenaline in tilapia blood. The indicator can be used to diagnose fish stress, as the cheapest and most suitable in laboratory diagnostics of fish diseases. Hematological, biochemical and statistical research methods have been used in the work.
