In article it is about the most actual problems of development of the personality in the conditions of modern professional education. The factors influencing activity and professional development of the personality in higher education institution are given. Among them - the external and internal factors opening contradictions of a psychology and pedagogical order. The important indicators of individual and professional development connected with activity of the personality in the educational activity, professional self-determination and welfare creativity influencing a choice of approach and problems of self-realization of the personality are considered. Future expert should find necessary qualities of the personality for effective activity in difficult sociocultural circumstances, a responsible choice and professionally mature decision in practice, and then in independent work in the specialty. Therefore, practice of professional education has to consider both requirements of employers, and need of the personality by means of humanitarian preparation and conditions for self-realization of students. Each approach contains possibilities of optimization of activity of the personality and disclosure of the resources by it.
