Educational potential of point-rating system at university

The article studies the problem of students’ personal qualities development in higher education, the relevance of which is considerably increasing in the current socio-political situation. In this regard, the need for new tools or the improvement of traditional methods of education is emphasized. The article aims to identify the educational opportunities of the point-rating system to assess the quality of education. The human-oriented system-synergetic methodology of Serikov G.N. is chosen as the methodological basis for research. It allows to consider education as a student-educator interaction. The interaction aimed at achieving system-synergetic community of education participants in applying the point-rating system designed to develop personal qualities of students. The authors revealed the characteristics of the point-rating system of students' performance assessment with educational potential, and developed the criteria to evaluate rating activities that stimulate the development of such personal qualities as independence, organization, responsibility, and creativity. The authors evaluated the effectiveness of the implementation of the pointrating system designed to develop students’ personal qualities via pedagogical experiment conducted among second-year undergraduate students of SUSU on the basis of the discipline “Business Foreign Language”.
