Demand for Continuing Professional Education in Russia

To effectively develop the national economy, implement innovative projects, and create competitive products, the country needs new specialists with a wide range of professional competencies. These competencies can be quickly acquired through various types of continuing professional education. Based on the above, assessing the current level of development and demand for continuing professional education in Russia is a pressing issue. This study examined regulatory documents and scientific literature on the issue, and analyzed statistical data for 2020–2024 on the number of continuing professional education programs and the number of students by economic sector, gender, and age. The reasons for the increased interest in continuing professional education programs are identified. The study concludes that the continuing professional education system is sufficiently developed today and that students of all ages are increasingly demanding this education. Recommendations are provided for the further development of continuing professional education in Russia.
