The use of combined polysensory influences on the specific motor activity of short-distance runners to optimize the rhythmic and tempo-based characteristics of motor activity are researched. To record the parameters of running step, we used the electro-podography method by means of an electro contact track. The temporal indicators were determined by photoelectron chronometry. As sensory influences, listening to musical fragments and inhaling the smells of essential oils were used. It was established that the use of combined effects in the form of listening to activating musical works and inhalation sessions of aroma composition “Inspiration” contributes to the rhythmic adjustment of body to upcoming activities. This result can be accurately predicted from the subjective feelings of athletes using a specially designed questionnaire. An improvement in the subjective characteristics of well-being and rhythmic and tempo-based characteristics of running step, i.e. pace, reference and flight time of running step, which determined the speed of running, the result of which was an improvement in athletic performance.
