Opportunities and limitations of using distance technologies in teaching new English language vocabulary in a comprehensive school

Methods, forms and e-learning tools are discussed in this paper, as well as issues that are likely to arise while learning English online. The methods of solving these problems in traditional and distance learning formats are compared. The advantages and disadvantages of distance learning technologies with regard towards learning new vocabulary, grammar and speaking skills are highlighted. Ways of overcoming the difficulties of vocabulary learning at school are presented, including through gamification (using game elements and skills applicable in game design within non-game contexts in order to achieve non-playful goals). Based on the analysis of scientific views on the particularities of students' perception of learning material, conclusions are drawn on the specifics of the implementation of distance learning technologies while teaching vocabulary in a comprehensive school.
