Objectives: To examine the possibilities of the radiological methods in the diagnosis and determination of the prevalence breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Materials and methods: The authors presents the results of complex radiological examination of 51 women with verified diagnosis of breast cancer, the postmenopausal period of whom was 3-34 years. Main results: In the course of the clinical examination tumor was detected in 44 patients, in 6 patients tumor was impalpable. Tests sensitivity was 86,2%. X-ray diagnostic conclusions were evaluated based on BIRADS system. 44 patients got the decisions of the 5th assessment category, 4 patients got the 4th assessment category. Cjnclusion of the 0th category (additional examination required) received 3 patients. Tests sensitivity was 94,1%. In the course of the ultrasound investigation the tumor foci were detected in 44 patients, tests sensitivity was 86,2%. To determine the localization and spread of the tumor computed tomography of breast was conducted in 27 patients (52%). The tests sensitivity was 100%. Conclusions: During the menopause fatty tissue is dominant in the structure of breasts, thus the sensitivity of mammography is increased and the sensitivity of the ultrasonography is decreased. Complex radiological diagnostics allows to optimize the tactics of treatment and increase cure rate.
