The article deals with the characterization of the specific features of the use of the means of the virtual educational environment in teaching the foreign students from the perspective of the development of the universal, general professional and professional competencies, that are the basis of mastering the major professional academic program at the example of the training program “Applied Information Science”, and the implementation of the Working program of education. The different types of the means are revealed on the basis of the competencies that are formed with their help, and from the perspective of the implementation of the social and cultural adaptation of the foreign students.
