Auditory sensitivity, manifested in various professions (such as, for example, a tuner, an acoustic engineer, a musician, etc.), directly affects the effectiveness of activities. The analysis of the works of Russian and foreign scientists who conducted research on auditory sensitivity was carried out. The discovered connections between auditory discriminative sensitivity and intelligence showed that auditory sensitivity as a fine discriminative ability is interconnected with the subtlety and depth of logical mental operations and the ability to operate with spatial images and verbal signs, as well as conceptual thinking skills. The connection of auditory sensitivity with personal qualities such as sociability, self-confidence, independence in judgments, dissatisfaction with oneself and one's achievements, and credulity has shown that auditory sensitivity is the basis for the manifestation of the ability to subtly adapt to the surrounding reality, increasing the effectiveness of people's adaptation, which is reflected in their competitive advantage in realizing their capabilities. An experimental study was carried out to determine the relationship between auditory sensitivity, intelligence, and personal qualities (the sample included psychology students (N = 40) aged 18-20). It is concluded that the proposed approach to the study of auditory sensitivity can be productively used in the professional orientation of children in relation to professions that place high demands on auditory sensitivity, as well as in the educational process and correctional work.
