The article deals with the theoretical foundations of children's familiarization with the world of adults, in particular, an adult is considered as a role model in the gender-role education. Special attention is paid to the analysis of adult's functions in regard to children. The research results of children's awareness of gender-role differences, images of a man and a woman are presented. The author considers the stages of how children learn the adult behaviour as a role model in the process of gender-role education. The subject matter under consideration is of a multifaceted nature.
