The first part of the article presents the history of the collection of documents of the newspaper ‘Rus’, published by I. S. Aksakov in 1880-1886 (more than 250 manuscripts in total), which in 1887 was acquired in Moscow by the Rostov collector A. A. Titov. Now these documents, as well as the entire Titov collection, are stored in the Department of Manuscripts of the Russian National Library. The following part of the article provides an overview of the various parts of the newspaper’s archive. The greatest attention is paid to the manuscripts by P. A. Bessonov, S. Yu. Witte, Yu. S. Kartsov, I. F. Romanov, A. A. Rymkevich, S. F. Sharapov (Talitsky), which were sent to the editors but never made it into print. Attention is also drawn to the manuscripts that give insights into Aksakov’s editorial activity. In particular, M. F. De Pulet’s article about Ukrainophilism, written at the suggestion of the editor of ‘Rus’ and edited by him, is considered. This is the only work in the newspaper’s archive that was published in it. In addition, other literary works, documents and letters sent to the editorial office are presented.
