“To live in Russian...”: historiosophical views of M. P. Pogodin in the assessment of I. S. Aksakov

The article analyzes the value judgments of I. S. Aksakov about the personality and views of M. P. Pogodin on history in order to clarify his place and role in the circle of adherents of conservative ideology in Russian society in the 19th century. The lines of contact and repulsion of I. Aksakov and Pogodin regarding the understanding of the essence of the Slavic question, the problems of the genesis of Russian statehood and the characteristics of the typical features of the Russian people are traced. It is stated that without understanding the influence of Pogodin on the formation and development of the direction that the Slavophiles represented in the Russian socio-political and philosophical thought of the 19th century, the description of this phenomenon will be incomplete.
