The article considers the vocabulary of animal husbandry, which occupies one of the main places in the Russian Transbaikal dialect's lexicon of the 18th century. The relevance of this research lies in the fact that this vocabulary has a pronounced regional specificity, which is due to the fact that animal husbandry, which was the main type of economic activity among the indigenous population of the region, had a great influence on the nature of Russian management in the development of the Transbaikal region. The work on the material of the Trans-Baikal monuments of business writing describes a variety of thematic groups of words denoting pets. In the studied monuments, regional vocabulary of animal suits is richly represented — horses, cattle and small cattle, camels (бабровый, халзаный, халюный etc.) among which semantic regionalisms should be especially noted (голубой ‘ashen, light gray’, крылатый ‘roan, with dark shoulder blades’). Groups of words, naming animal body parts (подбрюшица, хрясцы, степь ‘withers of a horse’), names of natural and special marks on animal hair (иверень, выскирь, чубарина, чатина etc) are distinguished: the activity of their use was associated with cases of frequent theft of livestock and horses, confiscation of property and transfer of livestock and horses to the “sovereign herd”. We consider a group of words denoting sex and age signs of animals (селеток, бурун, качарик, лоншак etc.), whose verbal characterization in the Transbaikal region in part is due to the influence of the Buryat language. A thematic group of words representing the features of animal behaviour (суровой, урос) is also presented
