Zoomorphisms as an element of the lexical and semantic system of the Afro-American variant of English language (based on the novel “The intuitionist” by Colson Whitehead)

The article deals with the constructions with the animals’ names as one of the elements of the lexical and semantic system of the Afro-American variant of the English language. There are described the peculiarities of the use of the zoonym vocabulary to transfer the qualities of the novel’s characters on the basis of the work “The Intuitionist” by Colson Whitehead. There is concluded about the domination of the zoonyms with negative connotation and what associative criteria are more often described by the constructions with the element of zoonyms.
