The article deals with the changes in the psychological portrait of the students of the last 10-20 years and their influence on the degree and quality of mastering the taught material. On the basis of the experience, methods and approaches of teaching the foreign language in Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation the authors of the study suggest their recommendations of the optimization of the educational process.
