Analysis of the research competence of hei (higher education institution) academic staff in the professional development system

The article considers the results of the questionnaire survey aim to study the research competence of the HEI academic staff. Research data formed the basis of educational and methodical complex “Information Technology in Education” designed for professional development courses “Management in education” for the heads of the Department of Education. The article highlights the aspects of competency-based approach actualization during the modernization of education. The main provisions of “Strategies of general education content modernization” are considered. They reveal that concept of competence is broader than concept of knowledge or skills. It also includes students’ experience of independent work and personal responsibility, and comprises cognitive, operational, technological, motivational, ethical, social and behavioral components.
