Studying the underlying mechanisms of gene expression involved in the body size determination allows for a deeper understanding of their contribution to the formation of morphological characteristics of an organism during the period of its individual development. The aim of the study is to evaluate the transcriptional activity of the LCORL (ligand dependent nuclear receptor corepressor-like) gene in the liver tissues, periosteum and duodenum of the Russian White chickens at growth reference points (in the 6th, 10th and 16th weeks). The object of the study is the Russian White chickens from the bio resource collection of the All-Russian Research Institute of Farm Animal Genetics and Breeding «Genetic Collection of Rare and Endangered Chicken Breeds» (Pushkin, St. Petersburg). The relative expression of the LCORL gene has been analyzed by using the RT-PCR method. The study has showed that the LCORL gene is active in the tissues of the Russian White chickens at the stage of intensive growth. In the sixth week of development, the level of LCORL gene expression in the periosteum and duodenum has been higher than in the liver. In the liver and periosteum the expression has being gradually decreasing from the sixth to the sixteenth week. At the same time, in the duodenum, the expression has being decreasing from the sixth to the tenth week, and then has sharply increased by the sixteenth week (p function show_eabstract() { $('#eabstract1').hide(); $('#eabstract2').show(); $('#eabstract_expand').hide(); }
