Formation of Universal Logical Skills of Junior Schoolchildren in Circle Activities as the Basis of Mathematical Literacy

The article addresses the problem of forming universal logical skills in primary school students within the context of the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard (FSES NEO) and international educational standards (PISA, TIMSS). The necessity of developing not only counting skills and arithmetic operations but also mastering universal logical operations — analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification, generalization, and establishing cause-and-effect relationships — which constitute the cognitive foundation of mathematical literacy, is substantiated. The contradiction between the high density of curriculum material in mathematics lessons and the lack of time for the purposeful practice of logical techniques is identified, which determines the relevance of involving extracurricular forms of work. Mathematics circle activities are considered as an effective pedagogical space that compensates for the limitations of the classroom system due to voluntariness, variability of content, and the absence of a rigid grading system. The results of the approbation of the program of circle classes "Entertaining Logic" are presented, including three blocks of tasks: for the development of analysis and synthesis operations (geometric construction, search for missing parts), for classification and comparison (work with sets, identification of grounds for grouping), for identifying patterns and building inferences (number sequences, logical squares). It is established that students attending the circle demonstrate higher results in solving word problems that require analysis of conditions, identification of essential features, and construction of a mathematical model. It is concluded that the purposeful development of logical universal educational actions in circle activities is a basic factor in the formation of mathematical literacy and educational autonomy of primary school students.
