The teacher’s functions in the domestic education system have been changing in dependence to historical context reflecting the political, social and cultural transformations. The retrospective analysis of pedagogical functions in connection with the normative acts and scientific studies is conducted. There are revealed six key functions, their development and influence on modern education.
