The functional state of somatosensory analyzer in patients with achondroplasia after lengthening of the upper and lower limbs
Free access
50 patients with achondroplasia (age: 10-35 years) were examined by the method of somatosensory evoked potentials before lengthening and in different periods after it using the technique of bifocal distraction osteosynthesis of the upper and lower limbs. It was demonstrated the disorder of the balance of the specific and non-specific components of somatosensory afferentation under the influence of prolonged graduated tension of limb tissues. Besides, the deficit of specific afferentation has been developed through the enhancement of non-specific one, that is of importance for genesis of postdistraction contractures.
