The essential characteristics of readiness of future teachers to prognostic activity, that is a professional and personal quality, including the knowledge of the strategies of forecasting, the values-based attitude to prognostic activity, the ability to forecast the possible results of changes in education, the skill to forecast the improvement of quality of pedagogical process for solving the prognostic tasks, including the cognitive, values-based and activity-based functions, the gnoseological, axiological and reflexive components, are considered.
