Pictorial functions of stylistically substandard vocabulary in S.A. Shargunov's text “Grandma and journalism”

Statement of the problem. The article analyzes the pictorial functions of stylistically substandard vocabulary based on S.A. Shargunov’s text “Grandma and Journalism”. The purpose of the article is to identify the functions of stylistically substandard vocabulary in S.A. Shargunov’s text “Grandma and Journalism”. The methodology is based on the analysis of stylistically substandard vocabulary, identified by lexicographic analysis, and the identification of its artistic function. The results of the study. Stylistic analysis revealed that colloquial words are used to characterize the characters, to describe their behavior. As a result of the research, the author identifies pictorial functions of stylistically substandard vocabulary: emotional-evaluative function, function of characterization of heroes, and artistic-pictorial function. Conclusions. The text of S.A. Shargunov is dominated by expressive verbs of colloquial nature having the meaning of high intensity of action.
