Adoptive parents’ key competences

The article contains analysis of consulting and patronizing adoptive families in Samara Region; some peculiarities of upbringing children in adoptive families; difference between "successful" and "potentially successful" adoptive parents; adoptive parents’ competences enabling them to create a favorable environment for adopted children’s socialization and adaptation; a list of adoptive parents’ key competences: role competence, managerial competence, conflict-settling competence, social competence. The criteria for social success of the process of bringing up foster children are singled out: social, socio-psychological and psychological criteria. Socio-psychological characteristics of foster parents are described. Factors influencing the professional health of foster parents are determined. The competence of foster parents is revealed, allowing to create a favorable environment for socialization and adaptation of foster children. The list of key competencies of foster parents is singled out: role competence, managerial competence, conflict competence, social competence. A qualitative analysis of the content of key competencies is done. Role competence is manifested in: acceptance, encouragement, support and care of the child, creation of favorable conditions for the formation of moral consciousness and the construction of a positive picture of the world, provides space for the manifestation of activity and initiative of actions in the boundaries established by the parent. Conflict competence provides an opportunity to find constructive ways out of conflict, complex and controversial life situations. Managerial competence is the basis of self-regulation, management of the family interaction system, setting goals and objectives of activities. Social competence: ensures the effectiveness of interaction with teachers, social workers, other foster parents, defines the boundaries of opportunities for foster children to communicate with people of different ages and social status; Affects the expansion of the circle of communication, the finding of various interests and opportunities to meet the needs and manifestations of the abilities of all members of the family. Responsibility ensures: readiness to solve a wide range of issues and problems of the foster family, openness to new experience, support for the independent and active position of the child, the existence of an integral temporal perspective for the future life.
