Peculiarities of effective use of artificial intelligence in English language teaching

Digital competence is becoming one of the main requirements for higher education teachers. Computer technologies have long been an integral part of education, ICTs are included in all educational programmes, references to web resources are contained in university course and discipline work programmes. The article is devoted to analysing the peculiarities of using artificial intelligence (AI) in English language teaching. The theoretical basis of AI application, prerequisites of its introduction, as well as the history of development of artificial intelligence technologies in language education are considered.
