The article deals with the reflection of the approaches to the definition of the concepts “text”, “sense”, “semantic reading” and “comprehension of text”. There is characterized the role of the semantic reading while solving the text tasks of Mathematics. The author demonstrates the connection of the stages of solving the text tasks with the strategies of the semantic reading. There is systematized the material of the use of the techniques of the semantic reading while solving the text tasks at the lessons of Mathematics at the middle school.
