В первой части статьи, являющейся результатом работы автора с зарубежными архивными материалами, дается сравнительный исторический анализ ранних поляриметрических конструкций Вильда, Липпиха, Бейтса, Био-Араго, Ландольта, Хенцке / Шмидта-Хенша, частично воспроизводимых и в современной поляриметрической технике и пригодных для применения в лабораторно-аналитической практике для нужд молочной промышленности. В качестве платформы для отработки схем модернизации предлагается использовать общедоступные скрещенные полярископы - поляриметры типа П-161 / П-161М. Формулируются задачи модернизации, следующие из данных исторического анализа в сопряжении с новыми подходами, успешно решаемыми на данной аппаратуре вследствие конструктивного минимализма исходных конструкций, благоприятствующего их встраиванию в установки более высокой компонентной сложности. Данные задачи решаемы даже на студенческом уровне в форме простого индивидуального практикума, что показывается в следующей части статьи, выполненной самостоятельно студентами - бакалаврантами и магистрантами.
