The article deals with the linguodidactic functionality of the rational, emotive behavior theory by Albert Ellis and the theory of negotiation by R.H. Shakurov in the aspect of the teaching methods of the Russian language as a foreign language at the initial stage. The author suggests the panoramic representation of the pedagogical works, where there is reflected the appeal to the rational and emotive basis in the structure of the personality, determining its cognitive activity.
