The article deals with the fundamental issues of teaching the phonetic aspect in the professional foreign language training. There is revealed the phonetic game as the way of increasing the quality of the phonetic training in the process of the foreign language teaching. The authors describe the content of the phonetic game as a speech exercise that includes the elements of the playing and competitive activities. There are revealed the functions of the game and the criteria of the choice of the phonetic texts. The complex of the phonetic games provides the strength of the phonetic skills of the students of the bachelors' programme “Philology”.
