The article deals with the substantiation of urgency of self-control’s development of speaking skills as the system-forming component of speech activity of students at middle school in the process of foreign language teaching. There is studied the interrelation of the student’s autonomy and the skills of self-control’s development of speech skills. The potential of use of artificial intelligence with the aim of development of speech skills and the formation of skills of self-control as the essential indicators of the development of the students’ autonomy in the process of mastering the foreign language is considered.
