Social forecasting: the history and background of the emergence of sociological theory
Relevance: in the modern world, characterized by a high level of uncertainty, as well as instability of social systems and social processes, the study of the phenomenon of social forecasting is an urgent task. The study of the history and prerequisites for the emergence of the phenomenon of social forecasting is urgently needed to understand the topical issues of the development of modern society. Object: The purpose of this article is to review the history of social forecasting from the point of view of the emergence of sociological theory. Research objectives: consider the phenomenon of social forecasting from the point of view of development and changes in the fundamental conditions of human existence; to explore social forecasting as a specific area of theoretical activity that arises in a certain historical situation and deals with a universal problem - concern for the future; to explore the practices of social forecasting, starting from ancient fortune-telling practices and the emergence of Christianity to the Renaissance and the New Age, when the development of scientific knowledge made possible the emergence of a new practice - forecasting future processes.
