Modern approaches to professional development of teachers through advanced training programs

The article deals with the analysis of three empirical studies in the context of the advanced training with the use of the formative assessment. There are established the conditions for the success of advanced teacher training programs to ensure their professional development: programs must have a clear theoretical basis, include a significant number of hours, the possibility of simulation in real conditions and the opportunity for teachers to practice new skills in the workplace. There is emphasized the necessity of the assessment of the increase in competencies, both personal and professional, using the formative assessment.
