Transmission of the author's image in the translation of the story "Peon al Paso" by A. S. Sanchez from Spanish into Russian

The article is devoted to the study of the author's image and the features of its transmission in the process of translation of the work of fiction. The necessity of studying the author's image, which is generally considered to be the issue of philologists, is explained from the standpoints of cognitive linguistics and translation studies. The perception of the author's image is mainly due to the reader's interpretation of the written text that is characterized by the author's conceptual meanings on the whole and by the verbal representation of the key concept in particular. The cognitive-discursive approach is used in order to describe and analyse the key concept CAMBIO. This approach seems universal and promising: it involves the analysis of the author's language through the interpretation of the semantic correlations between the lexemes relating to the key concept of the original text and the translator's interpretation of their meaning. The article attempts to demonstrate how the transmission of the author's image is carried out at two levels: lexical and grammatical. Besides, various specific examples allow comparing the original text and the translated one and illustrate the translator's reflection according to the best ways of transferring the author's image. Finally, the explanation of the translator's decisions is provided with a focus on the interpretation and transmission of the author's image during the translation of the work offiction from Spanish into Russian.
