Influence of Yunnan Ethnic Minority Music on the Creation of Chinese Piano Works

Chinese piano music has been undergoing the process of nationalisation for over a hundred years, and composers have drawn on Western piano art forms to create a variety of works in the national style. This paper examines the history and culture of the peoples living in Yunnan Province, analyses the aesthetics and cultural content of their music, and summarises its influence on the creation of Chinese piano music. Yunnan Province, inhabited by many ethnic groups such as Yi, Hani, Bai and Dai, has a deep musical tradition and represents an important cultural stratum for composers. Piano works based on the musical traditions of Yunnan's small ethnic groups demonstrate the unique aesthetics of Chinese piano music and contribute to the nationalisation process of Chinese piano music, provide a new platform for the dissemination and development of the musical culture of Yunnan's small ethnic groups. Aim of the study: to explore the influence of ethnic minority music of Yunnan Province on the creation of Chinese piano music and analyse how the combination of the unique aesthetics and cultural content of ethnic music contributes to the nationalisation process of Chinese piano music. Object of the study: the process of the influence of ethnic music of the small peoples of Yunnan Province on the creation of Chinese piano works. Subject of the study: ethnic music of Yunnan and the forms of its manifestation in Chinese piano works. The methodology includes cultural, musical and comparative analyses to identify the key characteristics of Yunnan ethnic musical language and their role in the creation of piano works with national flavour. The results of the study emphasise the significance of Yunnan ethnic music in the development of Chinese piano tradition and its role in enriching the contemporary piano repertoire.
