The correlation between the learner’s autonomy and the level of the English language of students of nonlinguistic training programs of university is revealed. The results demonstrate that the development of independence raises the level of foreign language communicative competence. The model of formation of autonomy with the use of tools of artificial intelligence, showing the efficiency in the educational practice, is presented.
