Методологические проблемы и фундаментальные ошибки применения корреляционного анализа на примере политической социологии

В статье поднимается вопрос изучения статистических зависимостей в социологических исследованиях. Социологи в подавляющем большинстве на основе своих данных, если изучают причинно-следственные связи, предлагают интерпретации только линейных связей, линейных моделей. Но проблема возникает не только в том, что, интерпретируя линейные зависимости, социологи игнорируют, часто не понимая сути вопроса, большое количество простых по форме нелинейных связей (ошибки 1 типа). В последние 20-25 лет часто изучаются не столь простые процессы, чтобы их описание реализовывалось через линейные модели. И социологи идут (осознанно или нет) по пути, когда слабые линейные связи (сильных практически не выявляется), со ссылкой на гипотезу о равенстве нулю коэффициента корреляции (спасительные звездочки SPSS), стали подавать как «значимые» и понимать негласно как достаточно сильные корреляции, представляющие научный интерес для интерпретации причинно-следственных связей. Но здесь кроется еще более существенная ошибка (ошибки 2 типа), когда не просто не замечают простейшие нелинейные зависимости, а вместо сильных простых по форме нелинейных зависимостей между параметрами приводят их линейные приближения со слабой корреляцией, и даже очень слабой корреляцией (0,2-0,3), что полностью искажает реальную картину изучаемого явления или процесса...

Methodological problems and fundamental errors in the use of a correlation analysis on the example of political sociology

The article seeks to study the statistical dependencies in sociological research. The vast majority of sociologists studying the cause and effect relations, offer, on the basis of their data, an interpretation of only linear relations and linear models. But the problem arises not only when sociologists, interpreting the linear dependencies, ignore, often failing to understand the essence of the issue, a large number of non-linear relations having a simple form (errors of type 1). In the last 20 to 25 years the psychology has been mainly concerned with the study of not such simple processes that might fit into linear models. So, the sociologists take a path (knowingly or not so) in which weak linear relations (few strong ones are detected, if at all) with reference to the hypothesis that the correlation coefficient is equal to zero (the saving stars of SPSS) started being presented as “meaningful” and latently understood as fairly strong correlations that are scientifically interesting for interpreting the cause and effect relations...
