Free access

This term paper undertakes an in-depth analysis of Russia's engagements in Ukraine, endeavoring to elucidate the underlying causes behind the escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, which culminated in February 2022 AD. Through this research, we aim to identify the most salient factors that precipitated this on-going dispute. Amidst the increasing tempo of Russian manoeuvres, Ukraine has repeatedly voiced concerns regarding what it perceives as Russia's sudden expansionist objectives. Conversely, Ukraine is diligently striving to implement Western agendas within its territory, in a bid to deter Russian interference and undermine its aspirations of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Furthermore, this study examines the repercussions of this current situation on both involved parties, as well as their numerous allies at the regional and international levels, with particular attention paid to its ramifications for international relations and international law.
