Cognitive constructivist way of teaching scientific and technical contents

For pupils to obtain high-quality and permanent knowledge, it is important that the teaching of scientific and technical contents is based on cognitive constructivist approach. We carried out a research, during which we asked three research questions, on a sample of 167 class teachers in the Republic of Slovenia. We wanted to find out: how often class teachers included elements typical of cognitive constructivist approach; was the frequency of using elements of cognitive constructivist teaching model linked to the teacher’s concern for their own professional development, and was the frequency of using elements of cognitive constructivist teaching model linked to the factors, such as the teacher’s estimated importance, difficulty and necessity of Science and Technics, the assessment of their own competence and professional enthusiasm. Data were collected with three scales: ways of teaching scientific and technical contents; attitude to scientific and technical contents and teaching and components of professional development. Data were processed according to descriptive and inferential statistics. The research showed that the formulation and verification of hypotheses, two important elements in view of cognitive constructivist teaching model, were less often represented. With statistically significant higher frequency they were organized by teachers, who rated their competence higher, were more enthusiastic and cared more about their professional development.

This study introduces a system design in a form of cognitive dialog game (DiaCog) to support pedagogical factors and student learning model ideas. The purpose of the study is to describe how such a design achieves tracking and adapting students’ knowledge and mastery learning levels as a cognitive assistant. Also, this study shows alternative ways for supporting intelligent personal learning, tutoring systems, and MOOCS. This paper explains method called DiaCog that uses structure for students` thinking in an online dialog by tracking student`s level of learning/knowledge status. The methodology of computing is the semantic that match between students` interactions in a dialog. By this way it informs DiaCog’s learner model to inform the pedagogical model. Semantic fingerprint matching method of DiaCog allows making comparisons with expert knowledge to detect students` mastery levels in learning. The paper concludes with the DiaCog tool and methodologies that used for intelligent cognitive assistant design to implement pedagogical and learner model to track and adapt students’ learning. Finally, this paper discusses future improvements and planned experimental set up to advance the techniques introduced in DiaCog design.

A new cognitive approach is proposed for understanding the texts of planimetric tasks and for visualizing the task conditions to complement the syntactic-semantical sentence parsing. Two main difficulties in understanding texts of plane geometry tasks are observed: the ellipticity and vagueness of texts. To overcome the difficulties in understanding the task conditions it is proposed constructing cognitive models of objects and relations between them. The proposed cognitive approach is incorporated in an integrated system for automatic solving planimetric tasks with the natural language interface. The interactive visualization has been developed in the system. It depicts the syntactic and semantic structures as a result of natural language text analysis and searching for task solution. This visualization allows the users to obtain explanations associated with any elements of the images and to correct the tasks' texts in dialog with the system. The destiny of the system is to serve for training schoolchildren in the domain of Euclidean geometry. The cognitive approach proposed can be a first step to automated analyzing plane geometry texts, in perspective, as a cognitively controlled parsing.

This study is devoted to the foreign language communicative competence development among non-linguistic universities under-graduate students. This research covered the issue of foreign language education based on the cognitive-conceptual model for teaching English to non-linguistic university students. As the main research method, pedagogical modelling was chosen. The experiment was conducted at Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin, and Ural Institute of State Fire Service of EMERCOM of Russia among 72 undergraduate students. The results of several curriculum-based tests showed that the percentage of correct determination of expressions with the context available increased from 54% to 93.2% in EG1, and from 41.9 to 85.5% in EG2. The overall students’ understanding of lexical units increased by 39.2% and 43.6%, respectively. The ratio of misunderstanding/understanding of speech utterances increased from 15/7 to 6/16, while the proportion of students who do not use/use various interpretation strategies changed from 8/14 to 3/19. The developed cognitive-conceptual methodology effectiveness for teaching foreign language communicative competence was proven. It can be applied to train students of various specialisations at different university degree levels.

Compulsory education is the basis of formal education, and in countries around the world, it has a different duration and characteristics and most often is related to elementary school. This current study compares compulsory education of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia. In addition to a review of the literature, current applicable laws and regulations, a comparative analysis of national curricula for compulsory education of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia have been made. The study showed that there is a difference in the number of subjects taught in elementary schools in Croatia and Slovenia, as well as in the number of teaching hours of individual subjects. Furthermore, an analysis of six subject areas of primary education that are taught in both countries was made, with respect to content determinants. An analysis of the existing content determinants shows that the same or similar content is taught in both countries, while in only one subject area, further analysis is required. This study provided new insights that can be used to further develop Croatian compulsory education.

This article aims to fully investigate the activities of the Federal Universities of Russia in the context of various aspects of development and to find appropriate comprehensive assessment methods that can be applied to modern universities that meet the best global standards. The main methods of research are comparative analysis and the formation of qualimetric models based on synthetically selected evaluation criteria. Structural changes in the activities of Russian federal universities have been analyzed. Authors analyze scientific, educational and social activities and other parameters. Particular attention is paid to the development of the ecosystem of innovations in Russian federal universities, its constituent elements and the peculiarities of their functioning. The study provides an opportunity to combine various aspects in the model of university activities. The article presents a comparative analysis of the development of federal universities and their ranking by integrated assessment. The development of communication channels between the academic community and mass audiences was analyzed, also the publication activity of federal universities was evaluated. The authors propose the main methods and sources of collection, processing and verification of disparate information on the state of innovation ecosystems in Russian federal universities. The proposed methodology, unlike existing approaches, allows a comprehensive assessment of the successful and underdeveloped activities of modern universities in both statistics and dynamics. The conclusion of the work is the need for a comprehensive analysis of federal universities by building a qualification parametric model on a regular basis.

The aim of this research is to study the state, dynamics and factors affecting the interethnic relations of young people in the field of education. This article discusses the conceptual foundations of the structural and content model of forming interethnic tolerance of young people in a multicultural environment of the university. Particular attention is paid to the study of new educational strategies and approaches that can create the desired socio-cultural and theoretical tolerance of representatives of other cultures, ethnic groups and religions. The research was a mixed method research and it made use of both quantitative and qualitative data. Secondary data for the article was derived from the scientific publications of other researchers and primary data was collected with the help of focus groups and indepth interviews.The 1000 participants of the research were carefully selected to represent nationals of other countries, culture and religion, to reduce the bias that sociological studies exhibit. The hierachy technique was used to analyze qualitative data. The authors present the results and analysis of sociological research for the analysis of interethnic tolerance of young people. It focuses on the psychological and pedagogical content of the phenomenon of interethnic tolerance, that can be taught to students in school. The authors offer evidence-based conclusions and recommendations on the organization of the process of forming interethnic tolerance of young people in a multicultural environment of the university.

Such predictors of intellectual activity as categoric, conceptual and semantic ones are analyzed in the article; the analysis is aimed at defining structural peculiarities of the adolescents' conceptual predictors exemplified by the adolescents with open-minded, closed-minded and neutral (mixed) cognition. Design of the research can be defined as a deductive-correlated one. The research is based on mixed-method studies, containing qualitative and quantitative methods of the data processing and interpreting. Principal Component analysis (PCA) as well as the Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test (IBM SPSS Statistics) allowed us to find out peculiarities of the adolescents with different cognition types intellectual activity conceptual predictors. The average value of the factor structures summary dispersion and differences in predictors significance values from p≤0.01 to p≤0.05 reflects the veracity of the research results. The research proves that adolescents with open-minded cognition are characterized by well-developed long-term semantic memory, i.e. they are able to generate more ideas (Hemp. = 12.082, р≤0.01), their categoric abilities are highly developed (Hemp. = 13.764, р≤0.01). Factor structure in this group of adolescents is a sign of conceptual abilities and conceptual predictors systems integration. The level of cognition openness is one of the basic characteristics of intellectual success. The attained statistic results prove that there are great differences between structural peculiarities of the adolescents with different cognition types intellectual activity conceptual predictors; the results of the research are as well indicatives of the fact that intellectual activity of adolescents with different cognition types is conditioned by the conceptual predictors structure.

The main purpose of study was to examine concurrent validity of the Student Teachers Professional Identity Scale-STPIS (Fisherman and Abbot, 1998) that was for the first time used in Serbia. Indicators of concurrent validity was established by correlation with student teacher self-reported well-being, self-esteem, burnout stress and resilience. Based on the results we can conclude that the STPIS meets the criterion of concurrent validity. The implications of these results are important for researchers and decisions makers in teacher education

The aim of this study was to determine the connection between functional abilities with results of jumping and throwing athletic disciplines with athletes. The sample was taken from a population of elementary school students from Prokuplje region, 13 and 14 old, included in regular physical education classes. The sample consisted of 200 male athletes involved in the training process in sports clubs at least three times a week in addition to physical education classes. For assessment of functional abilities six functional tests were used: resting heart rate, Cooper test, heart rate in the first minute after Cooper test, heart rate in the second minute after Cooper test, systolic arterial blood pressure, diastolic arterial blood pressure. For assessment of jumping and throwing athletic disciplines four tests were used: long jump, high jump, shot put and javelin. Data analysis was performed with canonical correlation and regression analysis. The results showed a statistically significant correlation between functional abilities with all of tests in jumping and throwing athletic disciplines.

The work deals with an important aspect of teacher training - the formation of competence in the field of technologization of the pedagogical process. An updated theoretical model of a holistic pedagogical process is presented, which is the basis for coverage of the criteria for the formation of abilities for the constructive and systematic introduction of technologies into pre-school education. The author's questionnaire The Scale of Self-Assessment of Pedagogical Abilities for the Technologization of the Pedagogical Process was presented. The article provides the results of its testing on a sample of a total of 412 respondents, including 170 preschool teachers with work experience from 1 to 25 years, 200 - students-future teachers, 42 - PEF coordinators. Based on the comparison of samples of teachers with different work experience, it describes how the nature of professional activity determines the specific structure of competences in the field of TPP. The experiment was a part of research; authors showed the conditions for the implementation of a special curriculum, which helps effectively prepare teachers for the use of modern educational technologies.

Educators must conduct assessments in their learning; it determines students’ weaknesses in the teaching material they follow during learning. Unfortunately, the implementation of assessment by educators was not optimal, and the weakness was that the existing assessment method was only fixated on assessing students without providing feedback on the assessment. At the same time, this feedback was essential for students in learning, which can help learners assess performances that cannot be seen and felt by themselves, as well as a tool to motivate students, notification or information, and reinforcement. Therefore, this research aimed to develop a Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method for learning assessment. The method used in this research was Research and Development (R&D). After development, the Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method for learning assessment will be implemented to see its effect on students’ adaptive capacity, decision-making, problem-solving, and creativity skills. Independent sample t-test and linear regression analysis were used as data analysis techniques describing the impact of the assessment on those skills. The results showed that the Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method has five stages: preparing the assessment material, diagnostic assessment, assessment for learning, assessment of learning, and reflection. It effectively affects students’ skills, such as adaptive capacity, decision-making, problem-solving, and creativity. It can be concluded that the Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method can improve students’ adaptive capacity, decision-making, problem-solving, and creativity. Novelty in this research was the existence of constructivism integrated into feedback-based assessment, which the existing assessment has not highlighted the constructivist side of assessment.

Social skills play an important role in interpersonal social skills. This study investigates social skills training concept in general sense in articles, master and doctorate degree programs. Literature review was made in the research between the years 2010-2017. In this literature review process the concepts of publication type, subject area, publication year, research design, data collection tool, sample group, province and department concepts were discussed for social skills training. Study group meta-analysis technique was used in this research. Thirty-eight articles and the theses existing in 22 master’s degree and 21 doctorate program in Turkish Council of Higher Education National Thesis Centre and Google Scholar were analysed.

This paper aims to present an educational framework for outcomes based continuous quality improvement. Well defined program outcomes, program educational objectives and assessment process have been developed to ensure graduates’ outcomes achievement. Direct and indirect tools have been used for assessment process. Course evaluation surveys, alumni surveys, and employer surveys have been deployed for indirect outcome assessment. Exams, quizzes, assignments and projects, on the other hand, have been used for direct outcome assessment. In developed framework, the educational processes committees and facilities committees have been integrated to continuously evaluate and monitor the educational processes. Furthermore, program outcomes and course learning outcomes are proposed to be evaluated and continuously monitored by programs goals committee and continuous course improvement committee respectively. Forms and procedures have been developed to assess student outcomes.

The aim of research was to determine statistically significant canonical relations between functional abilities and achieved agility results in children with kyphotic posture. The realization of such task would create possibility to come up with a more rational procedure for optimal planning, programming and control of the process of teaching corrective gymnastics. The research was conducted on a sample of 46 students of primary schools in Niš, all male, aged 12 (± 6 months), included in regular classes of PE and exercises in order to correct kyphosis three times a week for 45 minutes at Niš Health Center. The results of canonical relations with the results of the functional abilities of children with agility kyphotic posture were statistically processed in a way to provide answers to the research goal. We used the program “Statistica” 8.0 for Windows to calculate the descriptive statistical parameters and canonical correlation analysis. The results showed that there are statistically significant relations and influences between a set of variables for assessing functional ability, as a predictor system, and agility, as a criterion variable.

The concept of the professional orientation means to care and help for the young person in deciding about the professional orientation in which he or she will develop considerably his/her working capabilities while a complete rationalization in the creating and expressing of the personality will be achieved. It is known that while the choice is made, which is important for the whole life there is a many factors that influence the person. Reaching the decision is especially difficult for the eight - graders, because they are in the period of developing in which the exterior factors have a major influence while they are making their decision about their future job (work). The basic aim of this research was to be seen if the professional orientation of students depends on their gender. The research is performed on samples of 67 students (examinees) from the eighth grade in several primary schools in Gostivar. The basic mean (instrument) that was used in the research was a Test of Professional Interests (TPI). The results of our research have shown that the greater number of the male students’ choice was A category (mechanical work) and G category (administration) while the female students were mostly interested in category I (social-medicinal work) and category H (educational and cultural work). The level of correlation between the gender and the professional interests is a level of significance of 0,01. The results confirm that professional interests and the selection of the future job (work) of the eight-graders depend on their gender, but also it depends on their personality and the exterior factors.

The aim of the research is to analyze the creativity manifestation in the early stages of ontogenesis; to verify the relationship between creative abilities and social adaptation of preschoolers. The importance of the topic under consideration is determined by the fact that preschoolers’ childhood is the main sensitive period for the formation of creativity as the person’s adaptive re-source. The deficiency of development during this period cannot be compensated later. The examination of the creative abilities of 115 children aged 5-6 years has been conducted. Based on the total result of seven subtests Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking, three groups of children have been distinguished. They include children with high (N=20), medium (N=79), and low (N=16) creative potential. Data on behavior have been collected from 142 parents and 24 teachers who supervised children during communication situations. The adaptation of preschoolers have been analyzed on three sides: as a set of individual be-havioral reactions conditioning cooperation with the environment (A questionnaire of children’s temperament Thomas and Chess); as a social competency - skills in communication with children and adults (expert assessments of teachers based on the open structured supervision), and as an emotional adaptation to life situations (the projective technique of anxiety diagnostics “Choose a face”). In all cases, children with high creative potential demonstrated particular differences. The positive reaction of “approaching” in response to new stimuli, a low sensory threshold, and high speed of adaptation to the change of external terms are a typological profile of a “creative” temperament. Related problems of emotional reaction and the increased anxiety of pre-schoolers have been detected. The development of skills for social competence lags significantly in the group with a low level of creativity. The factorial structure of creative abilities, which presents three types of creativity (subject, verbal, and figurative), and three leading abilities (productivity, originality, and fluency) have been suggested. The particular parameters of creativity corre-late in different ways with the adaptability of preschoolers: the readiness is more successful, and originality is associated with disturbances of emotional regulation. In conclusion, creativity is presented as a natural condition for a child’s adaptation.

Many Philippine schools overseas encounter unyielding challenges, with the irresistible majority of teachers getting outstanding ratings, making it challenging to classify which teachers are genuinely exceptional. In specific instances, the evaluation of teachers’ classroom performance validates the organizational policies of classroom management. Otherwise, the effect of poor classroom performance is immense, predominantly on the part of students. It is because of this motivation that the authors utilized a quantitative research design to examine the level of teachers’ classroom performance using the criterion-based review model on various criteria. The measure is based on weighing the perspectives of purposely selected school administrators and teachers at The Philippine School in Dubai. This paper also explored the significant relationship between the teachers’ profile and classroom performance, and the difference between the perspectives of school administrators and teachers’ self-review to facilitate and impede meaningful performance review. The results adhere to continuing practices that will increase knowledge, enable impactful learning, develop critical thinking skills, improve problem-solving ability, and equip teachers with pedagogical competence. The findings revealed that both school administrators and teachers shared realistic feedback about teachers’ classroom performance.

This study aims to explore the potential of the digital environment for implementing a multimodal approach in music education. The effectiveness of information received through a combination of sensory stimuli demonstrates a higher coefficient of educational efficiency and is examined as cross-modal priming. Digital technologies: including specialized and educational software, virtual instruments, and artificial intelligence (AI), transform the music education experience into an accessible resource for individuals with limited musical abilities or non-professional knowledge in the field of art. This justifies their consideration as tools for general music education. The study presents a model for applying specialized music software in the perception of a musical piece by students (aged 12–13), as well as a methodological framewoamong university students, future kindergarten and primary school teachers. The findings indicate improved musical-cognitive outcomes and a high evaluation of specialized software as a didactic tool among university students. Additionally, the study discusses the role of AI in music education.

The aim of this study is to examine the potential of cryptographic techniques in enhancing the organization of online group work for solving mathematical problems, while applying differentiated instruction. Engaging students in mathematics often requires additional motivational strategies and compelling incentives for sustained effort. Online group work presents a valuable opportunity for collaboration and intensive communication in solving mathematical problems. However, it also poses challenges, particularly concerning academic integrity and the risk of unauthorized copying. To address these issues, this study proposes the integration of cryptographic protocols with differentiated instruction in online collaborative tasks. Specifically, various levels of problem-solving assistance are made accessible only when the majority of the group members reach a consensus. Assistance is unlocked through the submission of individual cryptographic key segments, assigned by the instructor. A group password-required to access incremental guidance-can be generated only when a sufficient number of key segments have been submitted. This mechanism facilitates progress monitoring and fosters group accountability. The paper illustrates this approach with an example from mathematics instruction, supported by a Python-based software tool designed to aid collaborative learning. The software employs Lagrange interpolation to generate unique key parts for each participant. The method was piloted with six pre-service teachers in Serbia, and the qualitative findings are discussed alongside implications for educational research and practice.
