Превращение электричества из диковинки в новинку. Подходы к изучению культурной истории электрификации

Предлагается обзор подходов к истории электричества, сложившихся в западной гуманитаристике, учитывающих социокультурный контекст освоения новинки. Данные подходы разрабатываются в рамках новейших исследований науки и технологий (STS - Science and Technology Studies), проблематизируют миф технологического детерминизма и фокусируют внимание на том, как общество может оказывать влияние на развитие технологий. Культурная история электричества рассматривает особенности интерпретации новинки, конструирование ее публичного образа в пространстве государственных праздников и досуга, специфику визуальных репрезентаций, гендерные стратегии доместикации. Актуальность анализа социокультурного контекста рецепции технологий объясняется значимостью социальной укорененности технологий для их успешного продвижения и развития.
