«Secrets» of heart transplantation

Free access

The so-called «secrets» revealed in the study are actually the most essential aspects of heart transplantation: donor management, which is considered to be the basis of successful outcome of transplantation; recipient preparation and use of newer drug therapies to decrease pulmonary artery pressure; and the right ventricles contribution to clinical medicine which has been largely neglected until recently, while right heart dysfunction accounts for 50% of acute perioperative complications and 19% of acute deaths. The main secrets: attention to the details is the key to a successful transplantation.
