The level of self monitoring in university students

The paper defines the term as well as the methods for assessing self-control in communication. The study is aimed at measuring the level of self monitoring among representatives of socionomic and signonomic professions, using the Self Monitoring questionnaire (SM), developed by Snyder in 1974. The study involved N = 32 student respondents aged from 18 to 20 years.

This article explores distance learning as a pedagogical system for transmitting information through the use of information, communication and telecommunications organization of the educational process. A comparative analysis of the traditional and distance learning systems makes it possible to discover the significant advantages and disadvantages of the latter in terms of assessing the quality of learning by students of educational material. The true prerequisites for the origin of philosophy

This article reveals the true preconditions for the emergence of philosophy as a sociocultural phenomenon. A critical analysis of the philosophical views of Plato and Aristotle on the genesis of the provocation of the subject to the process of abstract reflection - philosophizing, undermines the foundation of the prevailing speculative ideas, explicating the act of surprise as a generator of continuous questioning. The direct relationship of philosophy with the state of cognitive uncertainty - doubt, which causes the transformation of confusion into an impulse of conscious deconstruction, is argued. As a result of the study, the following conclusion is made: philosophy owes its emergence, development and immortality to a specific mental state that determined its incomprehensible predestination. Philosophy is the primary product of doubt.

The two sides of envy: understanding of benign and malicious envy in Russian students

This article is devoted to the research of envy on the basis of the research of young scholars of Kuban State University, attended by N=119 respondents aged from 17-18 years old (F=31, M=27) to 23-24 years old (F=32, M=29). We propose to extend earlier conceptualizations of envy by distinguishing the two forms that constitute emotional pathways in responding to status threats. According to this perspective, benign envy is a reaction to a loss of prestige leading to behaviors directed at regaining status. Therefore, people who are inclined to experience benign envy make more positive impressions on others, improve their performance, and, ultimately, reach better well-being. Thus, we argue that dispositional benign envy may contribute to societal flourishing. In contrast, malicious envy is a reaction to dominant others leading to behaviors directing at harming their status.
