Analysis of the onboarding and orientation process of employees in Central Serbian organizations

In this paper, the authors aimed to investigate the characteristics of the orientation and onboarding processes in organizations in Central Serbia. The main hypothesis, which was confirmed, is that there are statistically significant results in recognizing the activities of the onboarding and orientation processes. Based on this hypothesis, the primary goal of the paper was directed towards identifying the shortcomings of the onboarding and orientation processes of employees in the surveyed organizations. The study involved 127 respondents employed at all three management levels in 86 organizations in Central Serbia. The research results, among other things, indicate shortcomings in the employee orientation and onboarding processes, which represent the basis for its improvement to fulfill its primary function of contributing to gaining a competitive advantage.

The Big Data embodies a technology that permits the storage, processing, and management of broad and complex data sets in which traditional data processing applications are not applicable. These sets of data are usually characterized by a substantial volume of information that they carry, variety, versatility in terms of the format in which they are written, as well as a high-speed ingress which is often greater than the speed of processing. A particular challenge is the data which are coming from the Internet of Things (IoT) “world” that is constantly expanding and which already consists of several billion devices that can measure various parameters in the environment, communicate, process and transmit information. The data streams emanating from these devices are changing traditional approaches to data management and contribute to the emergence of the Big Data paradigm. This paper discusses the characteristics of the IoT infrastructure in terms of vast scale sensor applications and a possibility of connectivity of sensor networks, as well as various techniques of collection, storage, archiving and processing of the data on the cloud.

A crisis situation is difficult to recognize and even more difficult to predict completely. The de facto is that it is somehow always present in some segments, and that it leaves different consequences on the business organization, especially if its importance is recognized or predicted late. Crisis indicators can only be identified by persons trained to recognize its symptoms and manifestations in a business organization. We live in a turbulent time, caused by various crisis factors, which shake all segments of society. Society and organizations face uncertainty and risks, to which they should be able to respond quickly and efficiently, through sufficient information, which is complete and final. It is necessary to understand how the escalating crisis process intertwines with political and social reasoning processes, through the necessary control function, which holds the key to success in overcoming crisis processes.

Based on the review of previous research procedures, can be seen that entrepreneurial leadership represents a complementary aspect of leadership and entrepreneurship, and as such constitutes one of the main factors in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. In order to connect leadership and entrepreneurship more closely, a comprehensive review of the relevant literature on entrepreneurial leadership, classified through the periods in which it was defined, will be carried out. Through an in-depth perspective, models of leadership evolution through the aspect of entrepreneurship with clear practical implications will be presented. This type of analysis will create a new framework for the development of key competencies that surround entrepreneurial leadership and, on whose influence, organizational growth and development directly depends. This set of competencies is especially important, due to the circumstances that arose after the COVID-19 pandemic, and this means finding a leadership model that will enable organizations to absorb the negative effects of business in the macro environment and lead in the direction of optimal market sustainability. Also, by expanding existing theoretical knowledge about leadership and entrepreneurship, authors strive to provide a new perspective on modern management in turbulent times.

Human civilization has entered a completely new era in which the digital, virtual, innovative and imaginary becomes the main driver of national and economic development. Digital transformation has become the “conditio sine qua non” of modern organizations. The issue of digital transformation of business has become the subject of interest of theoreticians and practitioners, but only in the last few years. That is why its ultimate goal is to create added business value. The use and introduction of a large number of digital technologies in a small business by itself will not provide the expected benefits in the process of innovation itself. The highlighted importance of digital transformation refers to user experience, operational processes, business models, employee experience and digital platforms, as well as to the key domains of small business operations that digitalization is changing. The task of the work indicates the impact that digital transformation in the business process has on a small entrepreneurial venture. Bearing this in mind, the goal itself is focused on the possible directions of digital transformation of business in conditions of strong penetration of digital technologies and strong impact on small business.

Green entrepreneurship has been around for many years, however the emergence of the need for green initiatives is now more than ever. It is crucial to start these initiatives from very young age. In this article, an Erasmus+ project that was realized in Izmir city of Turkiye was taken for analysis. Throughout this analysis, a closer look to green entrepreneurship concepts such as greenwashing and green marketing was examined. The goal was to understand the effectiveness and the sustainability of the project throughout conducted workshops and focus groups. The results showed that there is a demand and a need for such projects that are in line with EU European Green Deal. Not only high schools but also other educational institutes should work towards educating tomorrow’s entrepreneurs to nurture green entrepreneurship.

Today, when managing an enterprise, managers face new requirements for high agility, flexibility. Such enterprise management in the context of digital transformation should contribute to the continuous improvement of the efficiency of production enterprises. One of the solutions, in our opinion, is the use of well-founded conceptual approaches of the production and economic system at the enterprise. Solving this problem will significantly improve of the enterprise. The paper presents the rationale for general approaches, the methodology of lean and flexible operational production, rapid response production, and digital production. An analysis of the comparative characteristics of management concepts for the development of the production and economic system of an enterprise is presented. Depending on the adoption of management decisions in the work, it is proposed to take into account the limitations when implementing the considered concepts of lean production and rapid response production, flexible production, and the concept of the factory of the future. The developed concept within the framework of the implementation of development projects in the main areas allows us to ensure the coordinated work of all structural divisions, which allows us to organize the effective activities of the enterprise when making management decisions in the conditions of digital transformation.

On the ground of the Rover case, the authors were observed criticism of learning organization from the perspective of postmodernism and from the perspective of critical realism, excluding the perspective of positivism as disadvantageous. Postmodernists perspective is twofold, either an ideal that is close to a dream or a nightmare for its members. Learning organization is a postmodern approach to work that requires a paradigm change in the organization, but all postmodernist theses based on the paradigm change are problematic. From the perspective of critical realism, learning organization has failed to meet three objectives which are essential for any well-founded theory: a clear definition, practical operational advice for managers, and tools and instruments for measuring. The concept of learning organization ignores the fact that management rewards those who contribute to the success and punishes those who make the damage, the terms measurable purely in a financial form. The political question in business organizations is related to the fundamental question: for whose interest does the business organization exist, whether the interest of workers or the interest of capital? The legitimacy of managerial authority is a function of maximizing efficiency and effectiveness in the interests of capital. In a contemporary social context where capital dominates, the concept of a learning organization is naively apolitical. Therefore, the authors concluded that simplified recipes, as learning organization, are simply not relevant for modern organizations and they warn about useless journals that continue to promote the learning organization model.

The budget is the basic document for financing state functions in every modern state. It is a financial instrument that raises funds through the mechanism of public revenues and systematically spends them to finance public expenditures. The budget is a one-year law that envisages, approves, and allocates all state revenues and expenditures during one budget year. Despite the existence of gender-neutral laws and regulations around the world, people are treated daily on the basis of their gender, and not on the basis of individual needs. It cannot be allowed to depend on one's good will whether the services provided by the public sector, or any other legal entity will be adapted to the needs of both women and men. Gender equality is a challenge, and the introduction of the principle of gender equality and its budgeting is an even greater challenge. Gender-responsive budgeting is an innovation in public finances that broadens the needs of society.

Lack of trust is one of the most important consequences of the influence of digital media on consumer. The ease of publishing content without any verification has led to a significant drop in the degree of trust in published information. The proliferation of brands and new products and their need to impose themselves, often with inaccurate information, has accelerated the erosion of consumer trust in „branded” messages. The aim of this study is to explore the levels of consumer confidence in information on the packaging, provided by food manufacturers; and to understand the trends in consumer behaviour based on their relation to provided information.

The utmost priority of every organization in today’s competitive environment is to attract and retain top talents. The aim of this paper is to emphasize the importance of “flair factors” those greatly valued personal qualities that enable an organization to accomplish its mission. The paper links insights about flair factors, as critical elements of organizational success, with the development of a compensation philosophy that can help organizations to recruit, attract, and retain top talented employees. Moreover, nine often-repeated errors made in developing and administering an effective compensation system are outlined. Finally, the paper benefits to both scholars and practitioners by suggesting how to solve the problem of identifying and hiring the right people for successful performance in organizations.

The aim of this paper is to examine the flow and evolution of the communication crises in a digital space, how different crisis response approaches contributed to the escalation and suppression of the crisis, and how communicating of post-crisis organizational and policy changes contributed to the image restoration. The crisis evolution and flow have been investigated through the document analysis, based on the publicly available sources related to the exemplary critical situation – Flight 3411 incident. The textual analysis, which is the prevalent and primary method of analysis in image repair and image restoration studies, has been used to analyze both crisis and post-crisis situation. Reactive approach to communication contribute to the quick evolution of the crisis. Denial responses in the early crisis stage contribute to spreading out the crisis. Changing communication approach from reactive to proactive and from denial to rebuilding (Coombs, 2007) may contribute to the crisis suppression and risk mitigation. Consistent communicating of the policy changes in the aftermath of the crisis may contribute to rebuilding the organizational image. This paper is among the rare contributions analyzing mechanisms of the crisis evolution, including transformation of a paracrisis into crisis. Moreover, it depicts the role of post-crisis communications in the organizational image restoration in the digital era. The paper provides an overview how changes of the communications approach affect the flow of the crisis and offers conclusions useful both for theoretical and practical considerations of the paracrises, crisis communications and post-crisis communications.

This paper focuses on the importance of recruiting and selecting candidates, as companies that take their hiring process seriously have a higher chance of finding and retaining top talents, helping them stay ahead of the competition and achieve their goals. The study analyzes the recruitment and selection process of candidates in the IT sector, specifically in the Vojvodina region. The research involved 180 participants from various IT companies in Vojvodina, revealing differences in the recruitment and selection processes for IT positions compared to other roles.

A necessary condition for motivating people well is knowing people and the human psyche, and for this very reason, managers must spend much time with employees to discover the best incentive methods for each employee’s work. When it comes to motivation, it is based on the claim that if an employee is motivated to work and satisfied with his work environment, the customer will also be satisfied, and the company will operate successfully. Motivation is a subject area that has intrigued humanity since the earliest beginnings of the human species. Today, fortunately, we live in much better conditions, and at the same time, we face numerous new challenges in motivating our employees in their companies. Motivation is an internal driving force that drives us to achieve our goals and satisfy our needs. In order to operate successfully, all companies must find their optimal combination of material and non-material incentives for employees, which will depend on many factors: the sector in which they work, the competition in the market, the nature of work, and the structure of employees. The goal of every manager in a company should not be to motivate his people to perform averagely but to motivate his employees to perform above average.

The strength of researchers and entrepreneurs is needed in order to overcome technological problems and to develop products with a great competitive advantage. This would achieve international market success. Success is achieved by the support of scientists and research institutions due to the nature of people and their efforts, not because of the innovation policy itself. The assumption is that companies should use external and internal ideas, as internal and external channels, to improve innovation and market potential. Companies promote their own innovative activities by establishing a new business model. Companies cooperate with other participants on the market, exchange ideas and satisfy the needs of consumers in a better way. Companies have to work a lot on improving internal structures of knowledge and technology, i.e., on improving their innovative capacity. By establishing an appropriate knowledge base and considering innovative possibilities, they can intensively deal with connecting to external sources of knowledge and technologies. By combining internal and external sources, they create new value and thus improve their own innovation culture.

Leadership is one of the key determinants associated with the success and failure of any organization. The characteristics of modern organizations are reflected in the radical changes that are taking place in society so that management and leaders must respond to them if they want to achieve established goals. For the purposes of the research, a survey questionnaire was conducted at the international level, examining leaders in various positions, of which there were a total of 102, of which there were about 72.55% of respondents are female, while the rest - 27.45% of respondents are men. The research achieved partially expected results, but it also turned out to be surprising results. The idea was to examine the correlation between effective leadership style in the company and the efficiency of employees; the correlation between the process of changing leadership styles in an organization with the increasing motivation of its employees; as well as the correlation between leadership style and the achievements of employees. The results indicate confirmation of the first two but challenge the last hypothesis. The results of the research can be a support for other scientists who want to further analyse leadership, organizations, leadership styles, and other elements in contemporary organizations.

This paper explores the relationship between sustainable human resource management (HRM) practices and job performance within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) healthcare industry. Drawing from the literature on sustainable HRM practices, the study examines the impact of sustainable selection processes, employee empowerment, and training on job performance. The findings reveal significant positive correlations between sustainable selection processes, employee empowerment, and train-ing with job performance. Structured interviews, internal promotion policies, and regular training opportunities were identified as key factors contributing to enhanced job performance. The study underscores the importance of sustainable HRM practices in fostering a motivated, capable, and high-performing workforce. Practical implications for organizations include developing transparent recruitment practices, providing opportunities for career progression, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Future research should explore additional dimensions of sustainable HRM practices and investigate the impact of cultural factors on employee perceptions of HRM practices. Overall, this study highlights the critical role of sustaina-ble HRM practices in enhancing organizational performance and contributing to long-term success and sustainability.

The media play a huge role in people's lives because they inform people about the happenings in the world. Sometimes one has to wonder how accurate that information really is and what role ethics play in the Universe. The media's ethics refers to moral principles and values that journalists and media houses should respect, including truthfulness, objectivity, precision, respect for privacy, etc. Fake news is a problem that occurs when the media presents incorrect or misleading information, if someone is malicious or wants to manipulate public opinion, they can easily exploit these falsehoods. That is why ethics in the media is very important in order to prevent the spread of fake news and preserve the integrity of journalism. One of the important issues related to ethics in the media is the question of the source of information, journalists should check their sources to make sure that the information they convey to the public is really true. Sometimes, journalists may be under pressure to publish information that is not fully verified in order to be first with the news or to please their editors and media houses.
