The main thesis of article consists that Russia has begun on coast of the White sea as Rus Belomorsky. For the first time the hypothesis that Ryurik, Sineus and Truvor have come to Ladoga, Belozero and Polotzk from coast of the White sea from Bjarmland is put forward. Names Bjarmland and Russia mean the country of bears, only in different languages: southern neighbours named inhabitants of northern country uruses, and western − bjarms. Till now in representation of neighbours Russian associate with their ancient totem, the bear. Rus it is necessary to search for sources in an extreme antiquity; to understand a role Arii, Slavs, ethnos of Celts in ancient history of Arctic regions and the North. In article are investigated not only written sources, the bibliography, but also climate changes, the geological periods; having artefacts, petroglife, architectural constructions (temples in Russia and India, Solovetsky and Novodvinsky fortresses, etc.), products of decorative art; names of the rivers and lakes, a vegetative cover and landscape Belomor.

The article is devoted to the provincial press of the Arkhangelsk North of Russia. Analyzing the reasons for its formation and development, the author concludes that the appearance of new newspapers have been caused by changes in the social life of the country and northern region in particular.

The article deals with difficult problems of cross-border relations in the north of Europe have not lost their importance and relevance to the present. In the work we showed the events reflected and so-called “Northern” wars middle. XVI − the beginning. XVIII centuries. In the form how they look through the lens of a key border town in the north-western border of Russia, Pskov, which was at this period the main city of Russian statehood in the Northwest and the country, was in the middle of international controversy. In the article gives a refutation of the generally accepted versions of the fate of the thirteen members of the expedition Brusilov, remaining on board the schooner “St. Anna” after the departure of the navigator Albanov V. A., in April 1914. For the first time, gathered together on the basis of available historical and geographical sources of currents, winds and drifting ice in the Arctic in a particular area, showing the most probable direction of the drift of the schooner, the reasons for its demise and the subsequent path of G. Brusilov expedition to the eastern coast of Svalbard.

The article is devoted to the history of development of the White Sea Islands (Solovki, Kuzova, Zhizhgin, Mudyug) in the Stone Age − Iron (VI millennium BC. E. − I millennium AD. E.). On the basis of archaeological sources and experimental data it contains answers to questions about the nature of the ancient island of settlements, the culture of their inhabitants, cultural ties with continental cultures, ancient sea routes, origin and destination of stone labyrinths of the White Sea.

The problem of the relationship of the population of Vologda village to the learning process in the second half of XIX − early XX century. Based on the analysis of the total number of students, their age and sex composition, birth and examines the role of an elementary school in the lives of students and people living in the territory of Vologda Province. Study of the problem is based on an analysis of archival and published sources, record keeping and statistics. As a result, developing a system of measures by local governments to attract children to school, their number increased, especially in the zemskii schools.

To the question about the Northern Sea Route in the history of the Polar expedition of V. Rusanov

The article describes the stages of formation and development of the ideas of the famous polar explorer, geologist V. A. Rusanov, which formed the basis of the plans of his last expedition in 1912. Based on Russian Arctic expeditions in 1909−1915 period (including the 1st and 2nd New Zemlians), and modern data on the Arctic navigation and weather conditions of the Kara Sea, the author puts forward and often justified the route cutter version ‛Hercules’ to the shores of the Taimyr autumn of 1912, winter 1912−1913 and the return trip to navigation in 1913.
