Teaching clinical disciplines to foreign students: bilingual training in medical universities

The article discusses principal issues of teaching basic and clinical disciplines to foreign students in medical universities of Russia. Currently, in almost all Russian universities foreign students English is the mediun of classroom instruction. The export of medical education to foreign countries is acquiring a promising direction of development in the field of providing medical education in the educational services market. However, methodological and material support, training of teachers who speak a foreign language as an intermediary, as well as the difficulty of communicating in clinical departments with direct communication with patients, contribute to the learning process. In addition, there are certain differences in the approaches and principles of teaching various disciplines between domestic and foreign schools, which requires the release of textbooks and teaching aids in English at a medical university.

The paper highlights acute issues of international medical education in Russia currently. It is underlined that Russian education has always been attractive to foreign applicants. Russian universities have rich experience of teaching international students. However, the authors state that there is a number of beneficial and problematic issues in medical education for international students nowadays. Some essentials to solve the problems are suggested.

In the modern world, there have been qualitative changes in the degree of dissemination of foreign languages and their social relevance. Not only knowledge of the basics of a foreign language, but also proficiency in one of the most common foreign languages is an important condition for permanent personal development. This leads to increased requirements for the level of language training of schoolchildren and a new understanding of the quality of educational results, which allow us to talk about the formation of foreign language communicative competence. From this point of view, group forms of students' work are of particular relevance, providing a new format of oral-speech allowing students to stimulate learning a foreign language, aiming them to achieve real results.

Technology-enhanced approaches to teaching English pronunciation

This article examines the use of mobile apps and digital tools for practicing English pronunciation. It reviews popular applications such as ELSA Speak, Speechling, Sounds: The Pronunciation App, LingQ, FluentU, and Duolingo, highlighting their features, strengths, and limitations. The study discusses practical classroom and self-study integration, emphasizing the combination of technology with teacher-led feedback, reflective practice, and repeated exercises. Advantages, such as individualized learning, multimodal input, and increased motivation, as well as limitations, including recognition errors and limited conversational context, are analyzed. The article concludes that apps, when used pedagogically and in combination with structured activities, can enhance pronunciation accuracy, learner autonomy, and communicative competence.

The algorithm to complex study of obsolete words and figurative means in folk music

A study of the texts by one of the most popular performers in contemporary folk music Loreena McKennitt was conducted to identify obsolete words and archaisms. A definition or synonym was given to every linguistic unit under study. The modifiers frequently used in preposition to the obsolete words were analyzed in British and American English. The semantic structure of the material involved four parameters: person, artifact, action, and time.

The main characteristics of the concept of "space" in the English linguistic culture will be the subject of analysis. The differential features of the concept of "space" are revealed through the prism of linguistic fixation in the content of thought. This allows us to determine the specificity of the fragmentation of reality by the English linguistic culture, first of all into internal and external space as a ratio of the location of objects. The concept under study is determined by the world view, the prevailing philosophy, the axiological system, cultural traditions, religious beliefs, etc. in the English linguistic picture of the world.

The article analyzes the structure of the concept of "child" in the English and Kyrgyz pictures of the world according to the associative experiment. The similarity of the nuclear zone of the concept is revealed, which confirms its high universal value. It also gives a linguistic and cultural description of the paremic material of the Kyrgyz and English languages, which consolidated the knowledge and ideas about the child, his ties with his parents and their relationships. An attempt is made to organize proverbs and sayings in the paremiological field in order to identify the cognitive features of the concept under study.

The description of linguistic components of the discourse

The analysis of theoretical and practical material describes explicit macrostructures as the components of linguistic meanings of the discourse. Consequently, the explicit macroproposition of discourse, we mean a statement that is the result of a cognitive-semantic operation. The appeal to explicit macropropositions, organized by the author's efforts into explicit macrostructures, provides a relatively rare opportunity to trace how semantic, pragmatic and referential basses are realized into macrostructures of discourse. When working with explicit macrostructures, we get the opportunity to operate not with hypothetical cognitive-semantic units, but with explicit units clothed in syntactic structures. The material of research was the text of the English writer Jerome K. Jerome "Three Men in a Boat: To Say Nothing of the Dog!" This story includes the sequences of explicit macro-propositions, combined into macrostructures in each chapters of the text.

This article analyzes the sources of the formation of a certain image (stereotype) about Russia by students from Germany. Process of adaptation of exchange students influence their involvement in educational procedures and social communication. The effectiveness of adaptation of students and their expectation compared to real situation affect their perceptions of the country they visit. Based on the Actor-Network Theory, an analysis of conceptualized representations of foreign students was carried out before and after arriving in Russia.

The paper concerns the importance of obtaining professional English for the practice of a doctor, especially an infectious disease specialist. The language barrier is an obstacle that must be overcome through working English. Knowing professional medical English allows presenting the results of scientific research to the international medical community in the form of an article or report. The aim of our study was to prove that English is the leading language in the field of infectious diseases and the current coverage of COVID 19. In the course of the study, we analyzed the quantity of publications in English on several infectious diseases that are a global problem around the world. For the search, we used an international database PubMed with open access. In the course of our work, we have confirmed that the vast majority of medical articles on infectious diseases that are important for the whole world, such as malaria, typhoid fever and the new covid-19 coronavirus infection, are published in English. In this way, we have confirmed the role of English as the international language of science.

Overall, the incorporation of foreign language instruction into medical curricula has a multidimensional impact: it enhances clinical performance, promotes research excellence, and bolsters the pedagogical environment, ultimately elevating the quality of healthcare delivery in an increasingly interconnected world.

On the other hand, the importance of China's Maritime Silk Road project was mentioned in the article.
