The importance of teaching different types of reading in foreign language to non-linguistic students

Reading is one of the most important means of getting information. They are especially important while learning a foreign language as it is one of the most effective ways to broaden vocabulary and solidify grammar knowledge. The article is devoted to the role of reading in the process of foreign language teaching to non-linguistic students. The article characterizes such types of reading as skimming, scanning, extensive and intensive. It also gives exercises for working with every reading type.

The article emphasizes the important role of the Great Silk Road in the development of international trade communications. In addition to mentioning the transit routes of the historical Silk Road, the importance of the modern Silk Road project is emphasized here. The article explains the importance of strengthening economic relations and communication lines between countries, peoples, and different regions. Taking into account the importance of the Silk Road in the development of the world, within the framework of the new "One Belt, One Road" concept, China's large investment in international trade communications, infrastructure, innovative development of regions, and the creation of new sea ports and land routes should be noted. Also mentioned in an article on China's digital Silk Road project. Now is the era of global communications in the world, and foreign policies of countries should be based on it. On the other hand, the importance of China's Maritime Silk Road project was mentioned in the article.

The language of preventive healthcare: coronavirus pandemic discourse

The paper discusses COVID-19 discourse in media texts of WHO official website published in March-April 2020. The objective of the research is to identify and analyze content, structural, pragmatic and linguistic features of media text with a particular focus on the communicative effect they might produce on the target audience. The authors conclude that WHO coverage of the pandemic is mainly associated with preventive strategies, which comprise a variety of macrostructural elements, pragmatic functions of information and persuasion, colloquial and topical vocabulary, imperative mood for advice and a wide usage of graphical means.

Lack of education critically affects the hundreds of millions of children around the world who become adolescents without basic life skills. As a result, it is difficult for them not only to build a successful career or educate their children, but to even read the instructions of doctors, understand documents, make purchases and other daily operations. It is also not necessary that only high-income countries can demonstrate high levels of education. At present, countries with lower incomes are also showing positive results, are interested in improving the quality of education, and are developing new strategies. This research paper describes the main aspects of the crisis in education, followed by a winning strategy by which countries can overcome this crisis. The strategy is a movement in three directions: competent, fair and regular assessment of learning is an important first step; acting on this assessment while making education accessible to all children is the next major challenge; and, finally, the coordinated actions of all participants in the education system are important. This research paper provides vivid examples of education activity in countries with different income levels.

Tourism is one of the best ways of having rest. Tourism is a travel branch that can have recreation, religion, health, business purposes. It has become very popular since XIX and technological progress. Tourism starts to be a part of the people’s life in global world. Tourism is considered as one of the most income based service sectors. Its development can bring many advances with itself to the economy. Today many countries earn most of their budget income from tourism sector. Tourism is not just only an income source but also a helper for strong international relations. Development of tourism strengthens the relations between nations, cultures and increases socio-economic business activities. The era of education and technology makes life much easier and increases the need for travelling. Tourism is a luxury good, it means very costly to attain. But today it becomes easier to get with the help of low budget tourism (the offer of low service prices by companies). Even, the countries that are poor for tourism sector, try to maintain artificial tourism in their territory. Developing tourism sector increases the number of travelers every year. The countries with rich nature, architecture, culture, history are more likely to attract many tourists. Azerbaijan is lucky among countries that it has many features for the development of tourism sector. Tourism has a huge impact on the development of countries’ economies as a complex. Increasing economic activities are supported by tourism service sector. Many such reasons make tourism sounds very attractive for the solutions of socio-economic problems. Increasing investments towards tourism sector benefits many countries’ economies. In Azerbaijan, tourism has also become one of the main service sectors. Generally tourism started to raise its importance in Azerbaijan after independency. This sector has been prioritized by the government and many programs have been made in order to develop tourism in Azerbaijan. As a result of all these things, the flow of both foreign and local investments has been put to Azerbaijan. Tourism sector is very important for Azerbaijan, because it will bring many positive outcomes, if the sector is controlled by right regulations and decisions. The advantages and disadvantages of tourism sector are criticized in the material. Tourism is considered one of the best ways of non oil sector and the development of service sector will benefit the economy of the country.

The main objectives of teaching foreign languages in non-linguistic areas of bachelor's degree

This article attempts to prove the illegality of putting forward as the main goal of teaching foreign languages exclusively the development of skills to communicate in a foreign language. This point of view is based on a broader understanding of the tasks of teaching foreign languages than just providing practical knowledge of foreign language communication. As a justification of this theory, important arguments related to the acquisition of knowledge about the language and through the language - the culture of the corresponding people are given. The focus solely on the assimilation of practical skills and abilities by students does not allow taking into account the diversity of possible motivations of students in mastering the subject. The emphasis is placed on the fact that not for all students, communicative motivation is the main component in mastering a foreign language. The practical significance of this article lies in the development of a number of competencies necessary to achieve the main goals of teaching foreign languages.

The reasons for establishing lists of prohibited and restricted goods

The article takes up the experience of New Zealand and Australia in prohibitions and restrictions on the export and import of certain categories of goods. Each category of goods is classified in a particular group depending on the objectives the countries are using these measures for (conservation of certain animal species, protection of environment, preservation of cultural values, etc.). A special procedure is provided for transportation of drugs. It also contains the details of the prohibitions and restrictions on import and export of certain categories of Russian goods.

This study was conducted to find out the correlation between the personality traits (Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, Openness to Experiences) and Communal Orientation among Afghan and Indian students. The results of the study found out that there is a significant positive correlation between emotional stability, agreeableness with communal orientation among Afghan and Indian students. The results also showed that there is a significant negative correlation between communal orientation and openness to experience among Afghan and Indian students. The result further presented that there is a significant negative correlation between communal orientations and extraversion among Afghan students. However, there is no significant correlation between communal orientation and extraversion among Indian students. The results also showed that there is no significant correlation between communal orientation and conscientiousness among Afghan students. However, there is significant positive correlations between communal orientation and conscientiousness among Indian students.

The reverse translation from English to DNA: how to encrypt messages in the genome

The year 2010 was significant for biology in the light of complete artificial synthesis of genome and its transplantation, which was realized in the Craig Venter institute, Rockville, Maryland. A research group, led by Nobel laureate H. O. Smith, J.C. Venter and C.A. Hutchison, transplanted a de novo synthesized chromosome of Mycoplasma mycoides into Mycoplasma capricolum. In order to verify the success of the experiment, the donor genome was edited by inserting the nucleotide sequence of four watermarks into different loci of the genome, antibiotic resistance gene and lacZ gene. Thus, the efficiency of transplantation could be evaluated using three approaches: 1. Control sequencing of the synthetic genome and identification of watermarks. 2. Testing viability of bacterial culture, treating their growth medium with antibiotics. 3. Turning the colony bright blue in the presence of an organic compound X-gal, metabolizing by a product of the lacZ gene. These three approaches confirmed success in transplantation, proclaiming that the first ever species was created by human. The linguistic interest of this great scientific breakthrough lies in watermarks, which were inserted into the donor genome. Each additional sequence encodes a message in English. In this light, the transplantation of de novo synthesized chromosome into the living cells became the first ever precedent where the human language has been translated to the language of nucleic acids. The aim of this study is to biologically and linguistically analyze the adaptation of the English alphabet to a genetic code, which is the first ever trial to encode a formally non-biologic information into a living cell, mapping the loci of watermarks and deciphering encoded data.

This article is devoted to the issue of the influence of globalization and the ever-growing influence of the English language on the speech of young people and the appearance of Anglicisms in their language. In our turbulent age, the flow of new ideas, things, information, technologies require a clear and capacious name for objects and phenomena, makes us use already existing foreign names in the language, and not expect the creation of original words. The scientific, technical, military, financial, banking, sports and even cultural vocabulary around the world is striving for internationalization. The craving for scientific progress, for civilization is reflected in the language. Discussing the current situation, many philologists and linguists note that the intensity of borrowing foreign vocabulary has reached enormous proportions. Of particular concern is the fact that borrowed words from English slang and their derivatives are increasingly common in everyday speech of young people. It is easier for young people to express their thoughts and feelings through the means of a foreign language. People around you do not always understand what teenagers or students are talking about. They speak a different language of their generation. This article was written as a part of a scientific project which is financed by Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.
