Functions of anglicisms in youth slang: an example of youth slang in Kyrgyzstan

This article explores the role of Anglicisms in the youth slang of Kyrgyzstan. Taking into account the impact of globalization and digital technologies, English is actively being integrated into the daily speech of young people. Anglicisms are becoming not only part of the vocabulary, but also important markers of social status and cultural affiliation. The article examines the functions of Anglicisms in youth speech, their impact on the development of language and society, and provides examples of the use of Anglicisms in youth slang in Kyrgyzstan. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the reasons for the popularity of Anglicisms among young people and their role in building social identity.

Government support and equality in higher education: the experience of China and Kyrgyzstan

This paper presents a comparative analysis of social policies in higher education in China and Kyrgyzstan, focusing on government interest initiatives, policy preferences, and positive discrimination policies. The research uses a mixed research method combining literature review, policy document analysis, and statistical data analysis to reveal the similarities and differences between the two countries in the implementation of these social policies. The results show that although both countries try to promote equality of higher education opportunities and social equity through such policies, there are significant differences in policy design, implementation mechanism, and effectiveness due to differences in national conditions, education systems, and social structures. The novelty of this study lies in its systematic comparison of two distinct socio-political and educational contexts, providing insights into how state priorities and social policy frameworks shape access to and quality of higher education. The research highlights the challenges faced by both countries in balancing economic development goals with the need for equitable access to education, as well as the role of historical and cultural factors in policy implementation. The practical significance of the findings is that they may serve as a valuable guideline for policymakers and educational institutions in optimizing higher education strategies, improving the inclusiveness of social policies, and addressing structural inequalities. Furthermore, the results can contribute to international discourse on higher education reforms, particularly in transitional and developing countries. This study provides a useful reference for policymakers in both China and Kyrgyzstan to optimize the social policies of higher education and offers directions for future research on comparative education policy in Central Asia and beyond.

Habitual and continuous aspects in Sakha

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the habitual and continuous aspects in Sakha (Yakut) language. This study mainly focuses on Sakha, a Turkic language spoken by approximately 360000 speakers in Siberia, Russia. Although genetically Sakha is a Turkic language, it is very different from other Turkic languages due to contact with its neighbouring languages, which are from families such as Mongolic, Tungusic, and Slavic. The aspectual system of Sakha differs from English and other inflectional languages because Sakha is an agglutinating language whereas English or Russian are synthetic. The aspectual system in Sakha is expressed through verbal endings, converbs or other verbal morphology. In this article I discuss two types of aspect: Habitual and Continuous. This study investigates the ways of formation (synthetic and analytical) of different verbal aspects in Sakha, i.e. which way is used to express each aspect. The system I use in this article is based on Comrie’s classification into two main aspects. The category of aspect is hardly found in most studies on Turkic morphology. It is hoped that by focusing on the formation of verbal aspects in Sakha, this article can offer insights into the aspectual system of the Sakha language.

Modern infectious diseases strongly affect the expectancy of human life and its quality. The improvement of health literacy and promoting health awareness are some of the main tasks of any government medical policy. Communicative approach can help solve it. The objective of this research is to identify and analyse the discursive features of health promotion on the problem of HIV or AIDS in national media resource of the United Kingdom. The analysis was carried out on three criteria: content, communicative means and pragmatics of communication. The material of the research included texts published on the official website of National Health Service of the United Kingdom (NHS). As a conclusion, the discursive features of health promotion were shown in relation to British culture.

The promotion of health is a top priority of preventive medicine in the modern world. Many studies have proven that the risk of disease development depends on a patient lifestyle by more than 50%. Obvious as this fact may seem, it is still necessary to improve health literacy in the public and to develop health awareness with all possible means. The objective of this research was to analyze how the promotion of healthy lifestyle is performed in British media texts. The material of the research included 25 texts published in the official website of the National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom. Conclusions: The analysis of the NHS official website has demonstrated that health awareness development and health promotion can be performed with the ‘expert voice’ and ‘common people’ techniques. Both are used to create a substantial pragmatic effect on the audience, to build up confidence and trust with the authors.

Healthcare and medical education through language: a comparative research of translation equivalents

A highly-trained medical practitioner should possess extensive professional expertise, skills and competence which involve some basic understanding of world healthcare systems’ structures, functions and healthcare practitioners who provide medical services. Our research focuses on the way a healthcare and a medical education systems as social institutes are reflected in the language. The hypothesis is that a linguistic comparative study could provide a deeper insight into a foreign culture including its medical and educational domains. The objective of our research is to investigate similarities and differences of British and Russian healthcare and education systems by defining basic vocabulary items naming British and Russian Medical Practitioners and People in Medical Education. The research procedure included several stages. The first stage involved a selection of English vocabulary corpus consisting of 15 nouns naming British medical practitioners and positions in medical education. At the next stage each item was supplied by an English definition and a Russian translation equivalent if any. Then the English and Russian items were compared regarding their definitions and translation equivalents. Linguistic methods and research in general and a comparative linguistic analysis in particular can be effectively used in professional competence development as well as in a widening of cultural horizons. The vocabulary corpus and definitions could be taught in EFL classes to Russian students of medicine.

Historical narrative in Japanese local identity

Research on historical narratives is highly relevant in the general context of Memory Studies development. This article examines the relationship between historical narrative and local community identity using a narrative from the Japanese community of Yuwa Memeki in Akita Prefecture, Tohoku region. This is a remarkable example of how a special collective memory can be preserved in a local community, creating a unique local identity and perception of history that is different from the traditional national one. The article describes how the historical reality is reflected in the narrative about the folklore character Yashaki, which is significant for this community, and what this may say about the peculiarities of the local identity.

Today, consumers of banking services use digital channels for routine transactions, but for complex transactions, many of them choose personal interaction, even though their needs change in accordance with changing social, economic, cultural and technological trends. In this regard, the need to expand digital banking offerings focused on increasing customer loyalty and taking into account various factors, ranging from personalization of experience to reducing security risks, is being actualized. Despite the fact that digital banking symbolizes convenience, consumer’s still lack human communication and personal connection, so modern financial organizations should combine digital practice with physical interaction. These transformations will contribute not only to the creation of new products and services, but also to the formation of complex ecosystems that support the humanization of the digital experience of interaction with consumers.

Социальная, политическая, экономическая жизнь любой страны находится в состоянии постоянного изменения. Актуальность данного исследования определяется меняющимися внешними условиями, изменениями внутренних правил и процессов, изменением климата и физических условий жизни. Самым динамичным, пожалуй, является технологический сектор экономики, инфокоммуникационное сопровождение процессов. Целью исследования является оценка влияния комплекса санкций со стороны международного экономического сообщества на экономическую и технологическую жизнь нашей страны. В процессе исследования применялись методы наблюдения, анализа, синтеза, аналогии. Следует подчеркнуть, что отрасль телекоммуникаций по причине своей высокотехнологичности и восприимчивости приняла подобные изменения одной из первых. В процессе исследования проведен анализ своевременности и содержательности реагирования на ограничение поставок оборудования и технологий в отрасли связи. В результате исследования сделан вывод о том, что государством и хозяйствующими субъектами предприняты такие результативные контрмеры, как разработка и производство собственных аппаратных и программных продуктов, внедрено льготное налогообложение, организованы бизнес-площадки для обмена опытом и заключения прямых контрактов, разработан институт цифровых атташе. Это необходимый, но не исчерпывающий перечень мер для обеспечения жизнеспособности IT-компаний и отрасли в целом.

Impact of AI-generated curricula based on industry needs on students' motivation

This article explores the impact of AI-generated curricula tailored to industry needs on student motivation and engagement in higher education. By applying Self-Determination Theory (SDT), the study assesses how AI-driven educational tools influence students' psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The research employs a quantitative methodology, surveying undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students on their satisfaction with current curricula and their perceptions of AI's potential role in curriculum design. The findings reveal that students, particularly at the bachelor's and master's levels, are not fully satisfied with their curriculum's alignment with job market needs. This dissatisfaction indicates a desire for more personalized, industry-oriented educational pathways. The article argues that AI-generated curricula could address these gaps by offering dynamic, individualized learning experiences that foster intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The study concludes that implementing AI in curriculum design has the potential to enhance student engagement and better prepare students for future careers, provided it is thoughtfully integrated with pedagogical strategies.
