Functions of anglicisms in youth slang: an example of youth slang in Kyrgyzstan

This article explores the role of Anglicisms in the youth slang of Kyrgyzstan. Taking into account the impact of globalization and digital technologies, English is actively being integrated into the daily speech of young people. Anglicisms are becoming not only part of the vocabulary, but also important markers of social status and cultural affiliation. The article examines the functions of Anglicisms in youth speech, their impact on the development of language and society, and provides examples of the use of Anglicisms in youth slang in Kyrgyzstan. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the reasons for the popularity of Anglicisms among young people and their role in building social identity.

Habitual and continuous aspects in Sakha

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the habitual and continuous aspects in Sakha (Yakut) language. This study mainly focuses on Sakha, a Turkic language spoken by approximately 360000 speakers in Siberia, Russia. Although genetically Sakha is a Turkic language, it is very different from other Turkic languages due to contact with its neighbouring languages, which are from families such as Mongolic, Tungusic, and Slavic. The aspectual system of Sakha differs from English and other inflectional languages because Sakha is an agglutinating language whereas English or Russian are synthetic. The aspectual system in Sakha is expressed through verbal endings, converbs or other verbal morphology. In this article I discuss two types of aspect: Habitual and Continuous. This study investigates the ways of formation (synthetic and analytical) of different verbal aspects in Sakha, i.e. which way is used to express each aspect. The system I use in this article is based on Comrie’s classification into two main aspects. The category of aspect is hardly found in most studies on Turkic morphology. It is hoped that by focusing on the formation of verbal aspects in Sakha, this article can offer insights into the aspectual system of the Sakha language.

This article examines the infinitive as a non-finite form of the verb in the English and Turkmen languages. The study is aimed at a contrastive analysis of the use of the infinitive in both languages, taking into account their grammatical and syntactic features. The purpose of the work is to identify similarities and differences in the functioning of the infinitive, as well as to identify its role in the formation of sentences and the expression of various shades of meaning. The research methodology is based on the analysis of language data from linguistic corpora, as well as on a contrastive analysis of literature on the grammar of the English and Turkmen languages.

The article examines the evolution of the concept of masculinity in the humanities and its specific representation in contemporary audiovisual discourse, using the example of the series Peaky Blinders. The aim of the research is an interdisciplinary analysis of male identities that are transforming under the conditions of the historical turning point at the beginning of the 20th century. The author draws on R. Connell’s sociological theory, as well as methods of cognitive linguistics and pragmalinguistics, to deconstruct the images of the main characters. The study reveals that the series conveys a model of multiple masculinities: the hegemonic type, complicit masculinity and subordinated models.

Language peculiarities of space description in "The way up to heaven" by R. Dahl

The article deals with the problem of literary space description on the base of R. Dahl’s story "The way up to heaven". The author interprets the space of the story taking into account the space’s being either close or open, flexible or non-flexible, extending or narrowing, concrete or abstract, finally, its being either static or dynamic The paper also dwells upon the language means used to express the abovementioned characteristics of the space within the framework of the fictional discourse.

The concept of "family" is studied as an important part of culture in the whole world, including Kyrgyzstan and English-speaking countries. The specificity of the semantic content of the concept is studied using lexicographic sources, the basis of which are Kyrgyz and English explanatory dictionaries. Dictionary definitions demonstrate that in the Kyrgyz picture of the world, the concept "family" includes many components. The central place in the article is occupied by the study of lexical objectification, the concept of the phraseological background, based on the analysis of semantic fields. Examples are given for each language to be studied. Definition of the main cultural components of the content of the concept "family" has practical significance when learning Kyrgyz English and vice versa.

Mythological aspect of some Kazakh toponyms

Kazakh toponymy is an integral part of the spiritual culture of our people, rich in historical linguistic data and materials. After all, in the content of the names of each nation, there are many centuries-old events of political and social life of this ethnic group, various layers of cultural and spiritual life. Generally,linguistics has written research papers in several areas related to Kazakh toponymy, but the problem of considering toponyms in connection with mythological thinking and the system of myths has not yet become a specific, comprehensive object of research. In this regard, the purpose of the scientific research of this article is to describe some toponyms in the Kazakh language, including toponyms associated with the phrase rich, "female goddess", which are associated with all - Turkic sacred concepts of mythological nature "sacred, holy", in comparison with the materials of Turkic languages from the historical point of view. According to it, the article is relevant to identify and analyze the manifestations of the mythical system in the spiritual worldview of the Turkic-speaking peoples, including the Kazakh people, formed in connection with the environment in ancient times, with a semantic and etymological analysis of the composition of the toponyms of Kotankaragai and Bayanaul in Kazakhstan. As a result of the analysis, the following problems were achieved: first, the cognitive level of the Kazakh people originates from ancient Turkic mythological worldviews, secondly, the common content and idea of myths common to the entire Turkic world, i.e. the common content and common Turkic sound correspondence of the mythical text nature of the ancient Turkic Goddess Umai - a woman, the usage of the cognition of a rich mother, and thirdly, the sacred concept of this "female goddess" (Umai- the scientific and practical significance of the work is determined by our attempt to prove in a new way the manifestation of the female goddess, Bai(Holy, Sacred) Mother) in the toponyms Bayanaul and Kotankaragai in Kazakhstan on the basis of previous research and previously ignored sources.

As we know, the term “concept” can be rendered and defined differently. The key option is that humans’ process of thinking can not be held without concepts, they even can be created at the moment of mental activity. The question on its essence arises many discussions in philology and language learning, thus there is a great number of scientific views concerning these thoughts. The predominant one is considerate as a splash of culture and a person’s mindset. It helps us to see the world within authors eyes and create new similar phenomena in our mind or to share our impressions and experience with others. Besides all the theories and a great variety of its rendering it is still one of the main structural units of the language.

The article discusses issues of borrowing foreign vocabulary and the ways of its semantic adaptation in the host language are considered. Using the example of the word «brutal» the dictionary characteristic of the word presented in Russian and English dictionaries. In addition, the author analyzes the contexts with adjective «brutal», posted on the website of the National Russian Language Corps. At the end, the author concludes about the semantic transformation of the word «brutal» in modern Russian and possible reasons for this change.
