Phonetic and grammatical integration of medical terms in languages of different structures

This study analyzes the phonetic and grammatical development of medical terminology in English, Russian, and Kyrgyz. Drawing on authoritative dictionaries and academic sources, it examines how Latin and Greek medical terms are adapted to each language’s phonological and grammatical system. The findings show that English largely preserves original forms, Russian integrates terms fully into its grammatical system, and Kyrgyz adapts terms through agglutination, often via Russian. The study highlights the importance of understanding these adaptations for medical education, translation, and multilingual communication.

Reasons for borrowing anglicisms in modern Kyrgyz language

The article analyzes the functioning of English borrowings in the modern Kyrgyz language. One of the main reasons for borrowing as a phenomenon was the process of globalization, which caused an unprecedented convergence of countries and peoples at the turn of the century. The reasons for borrowing words from English into Kyrgyz are considered. One of the reasons for the borrowing and use of English words is the development of American culture in the country. The use of anglicisms is due to idealization of American life.

Semantic characteristics of motion verbs in English

This article is devoted to the study of semantic features of verbs of motion in English. The units of this lexico-semantic group have a high frequency of use and a developed system of collocates, which leads to semantic modification of the verb of motion. The study identified the verb of motion with the most developed combinability and revealed its main semantic tones.

Semiotic analysis on translation of Kyrgyz cradle song into English

The relevance of this research is to grow interest in intercultural communication, translation semiotics, and the preservation of the national and cultural specificity of folklore texts in the context of globalization. Kyrgyz lullabies, as sign systems, reflect traditional values, worldviews, and symbolism of the people, which poses particular challenges when translating them into English. This article conducts a semiotic analysis of the original lullaby text and its translation to identify the specific features of the transmission of verbal signs, images, cultural codes, and pragmatic attitudes. The primary focus is on comparing the symbolic meanings, emotional-expressive means, and functions of the text in the original and translated versions. The research found that translation partially loses nationally specific signs, which are compensated for by semantic and functional transformations. The authors conclude that the most adequate translation is achieved not by literal reproduction, but by interpreting the sign system of the original, taking into account the cultural context and the communicative function of the lullaby.

The algorithm to complex study of obsolete words and figurative means in folk music

A study of the texts by one of the most popular performers in contemporary folk music Loreena McKennitt was conducted to identify obsolete words and archaisms. A definition or synonym was given to every linguistic unit under study. The modifiers frequently used in preposition to the obsolete words were analyzed in British and American English. The semantic structure of the material involved four parameters: person, artifact, action, and time.

The article analyzes the structure of the concept of "child" in the English and Kyrgyz pictures of the world according to the associative experiment. The similarity of the nuclear zone of the concept is revealed, which confirms its high universal value. It also gives a linguistic and cultural description of the paremic material of the Kyrgyz and English languages, which consolidated the knowledge and ideas about the child, his ties with his parents and their relationships. An attempt is made to organize proverbs and sayings in the paremiological field in order to identify the cognitive features of the concept under study.

The description of linguistic components of the discourse

The analysis of theoretical and practical material describes explicit macrostructures as the components of linguistic meanings of the discourse. Consequently, the explicit macroproposition of discourse, we mean a statement that is the result of a cognitive-semantic operation. The appeal to explicit macropropositions, organized by the author's efforts into explicit macrostructures, provides a relatively rare opportunity to trace how semantic, pragmatic and referential basses are realized into macrostructures of discourse. When working with explicit macrostructures, we get the opportunity to operate not with hypothetical cognitive-semantic units, but with explicit units clothed in syntactic structures. The material of research was the text of the English writer Jerome K. Jerome "Three Men in a Boat: To Say Nothing of the Dog!" This story includes the sequences of explicit macro-propositions, combined into macrostructures in each chapters of the text.

This study examines the linguistic and discursive strategies employed by French media and portray the identities of second-generation immigrants, often referred to as “children of immigrants”, through a sociolinguistic and critical discourse analysis framework. The research investigates how the media’s lexical choices, syntactic patterns, and metaphorical framing shape public understanding of national belonging, citizenship, and “otherness.” A qualitative analysis approach with data from French press corpora (Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération, and BFMTV) uncovers a systematic pattern: when immigrant descendants achieve excellence in sports or arts, their ethnic background is linguistically erased, while in coverage of crime or unrest, ethnicity and religion become hyper-visible. This duality, expressed through collocational tendencies such as jeunes de banlieue and issus de l’immigration, perpetuates a binary representation of “Frenchness” versus alterity. Analysis of frequent keywords in popular French journals confirms the asymmetrical attribution of “Frenchness,” with positive events coded as universal and negative events linguistically marked as ethnic or foreign. Drawing on Hall’s representation theory, Said’s orientalism, and van Dijik’s critical discourse analysis, this paper contends that these media narrative reinforces structural inequality through the politics of language. In conclusion, this shows that the discourse not only reflects social hierarchies but actively constructs them, influencing inter-group relations and shaping France’s ongoing struggle with its colonial past.

This article examines the binary opposition wealth vs. poverty in English and Kyrgyz from a linguocultural perspective. Lexical, idiomatic, and metaphorical means reflecting cultural concepts of material well-being and social status are analyzed. It is shown that English linguistic culture emphasizes individual achievement, economic mobility, and autonomy, whereas Kyrgyz culture highlights collective values, social responsibility, and harmony with nature. A comparative analysis is provided, including a summary table of dominant tendencies. The study concludes with observations on cultural similarities and differences and underscores the importance of the linguocultural approach for understanding intercultural communication and cognitive models.

This article is devoted to the issue of the influence of globalization and the ever-growing influence of the English language on the speech of young people and the appearance of Anglicisms in their language. In our turbulent age, the flow of new ideas, things, information, technologies require a clear and capacious name for objects and phenomena, makes us use already existing foreign names in the language, and not expect the creation of original words. The scientific, technical, military, financial, banking, sports and even cultural vocabulary around the world is striving for internationalization. The craving for scientific progress, for civilization is reflected in the language. Discussing the current situation, many philologists and linguists note that the intensity of borrowing foreign vocabulary has reached enormous proportions. Of particular concern is the fact that borrowed words from English slang and their derivatives are increasingly common in everyday speech of young people. It is easier for young people to express their thoughts and feelings through the means of a foreign language. People around you do not always understand what teenagers or students are talking about. They speak a different language of their generation. This article was written as a part of a scientific project which is financed by Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.

Показано переплетение житийной и светской традиций для создания идеального образа героини, использование новых форм речевых оборотов, двойственное представление окружающего героиню мира.
