Review of digital tools to promote student engagement in online learning environment

The present article aims to discuss the significance of online student engagement and ways of promoting it in the era of digital learning. The Community of Inquiry framework presents the balanced structure of three dimensions, namely, the teacher, cognitive and social “presences” that are considered to be interrelated aspects of online courses to promote student engagement. The author also discusses the nature of synchronous and asynchronous module structures and their distinctive characteristics in online courses in line with several digital tools used during the pandemic lockdown in the 2020-2021 academic years that had major positive results in fostering online student engagement.

Scientific and practical foundations of teaching English in rural schools

The author points out that the rural school is not only an institution of general education, but also a source of the well-being of the country, of stability, of the basic development of the society and of the spirituality of the people. In the article the peculiarities of the social-psychological and personnel training of a teacher of a foreign language and his use of modern developments and information technologies in the teaching are considered.

Self-confidence in oral performance

This article indicates the level of self-confidence during the oral performance of the students such as in speaking activities as well as the self-efficacy in their oral task achievements. Self-confidence is believed to be a psychological factor which has a considerable influence on students’ speaking skills. The purpose of this article is identifying the student’s self-confidence conducting the students’ survey on their self-confidence, in acquiring the English language with the help of questionnaire and students’ responds are analyzed by the author.

Social factors of preparing adolescents for family life during globalization

This article highlights that a family is a sacred place that preserves the continuity of every people, and the nation, ensures the development of national values, brings new generations of children into the world, educates them spiritually and physically, and is considered the main foundation of society. The fact that it is a social unit based on biological, economic, legal, and spiritual relations, creating a healthy environment in families in the era of globalization, ensuring family stability, and increasing the social activity of teenagers are highlighted. The article states that such virtues as hard work, loyalty, sincerity, trust, love of country, justice, purity, and correctness typical of Uzbek families are directly inculcated by parents to their children as a personal example. At the same time, teenagers are expected to solve family problems through their hard work, endurance, contentment, intelligence, foresight, sharp judgment, ability to behave in any situation, overcome the difficulties encountered, and family spirituality through their own strength, self-confidence, will, and knowledge. And issues such as being able to absorb their traditions and fully implement them in their lives have also been reflected. Also, independent family life is a responsible and difficult period for teenagers, and it is necessary to go through new social relations, instructions for the future, processes of social adaptation, and to arm them with knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in childhood.

Educators understand that every student has unique gifts and challenges, interests, talents and learning styles. Differentiation and individualization of learning have repeatedly become the subject of research in pedagogy. Differentiated instruction is a practice that helps teachers understand how each child learns best. The article is devoted to the problem of gradual use of differentiated approach in teaching a foreign language. The authors describe the main stages of implementation of differentiated approach. The article also describes the history of this approach. Advantages and disadvantages of using this approach were also presented.

Foreign Language Teachers for Specific Purposes have a lot in common with teachers of general foreign language. For both it is necessary to consider linguistic development and teaching theories, to have insights in contemporary ideas regarding their own position and role as well as the position and role of foreign language learners in education and to face new technologies offered as an aid to improve their methodology. The most important difference lies in the learners and their purposes for learning English. ESP students are usually adults who already have some acquaintance with English and are learning the language in order to communicate a set of professional skills and to perform particular job-related functions. An ESP program is therefore built on an assessment of purposes and needs and the functions for which English is required.

Teaching spoken French in FFL (French as a foreign language)

The dispute has never stopped surrounding the use of familiar language in the French teaching. Lots of people consider that the familiar language is really vulgar which is not an appropriate type of language for the elegant scenarios, and the same people insist that this kind of language should be locked out of the classroom in order to ensure the correct and authentic usage of French. As a matter of fact, every type of language will never be isolated from the final practical use. The familiar language has the most intimacy with the daily life of the French people and it’s the language that they are using every single day. Compared with the standard French, the familiar language might be even more important in terms of communication and pragmatics. Most French speakers use colloquial French, especially in informal spaces.We can see that colloquial language is greatly underestimated in learning, specifically in learning French as a foreign language. How to define the meaning of familiar language? What is its role in the teaching and study process of French? How to properly clarify the relationship between standard French and familiar language to further improve students’ listening and speaking ability in communication? These are the questions to be discussed in this article.

Teaching with technology, learning by design

I decided to write this article after attending a three-week workshop on “Teaching Technology, learning by Design” organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. Basically, taking a look at the above topic throws up quite a number of conflicting and complex thoughts in the mind of the average teacher but considering what evolution has come into the teaching profession in recent, modern times, it is only expedient to look deeply into the subject. Technology as it were, does not literarily suggest the mere use of a Computer or a certain computer program just for the benefit of using a modern, pedagogical teaching method but a goal-driven, well-measured ideology to achieve specific results that go far beyond the four walls of the classroom. The concept of Teaching with Technology Learning by Design is a well-defined idea meant to dissect and treat real-life problems in the classroom and offer possible solutions to such problems with the use of modern technology which creates a near-real life learning and development experience not only for the students involved but also the tutors.

Terminological competence in teaching Kyrgyz as a second language

In modern education, according to the competency-based approach, new requirements are imposed on university graduates, which are reflected in a certain set of universal, general professional and professional competencies. As is known, the set of competencies represents competence, which, in turn, is also divided into various types. This article discusses the formation and development of terminological competence of a Kyrgyz language teacher who teaches the language as a second language. It is obvious that for a successful professional activity of a teacher, it is necessary to possess not only the skills and abilities of the main subject, that is, the Kyrgyz language, but also the methods of teaching a related language. For future full-fledged teaching activities when studying methods of teaching foreign languages, it is necessary to pay special attention to the formation and development of terminological competence. Terminological competence here means not only knowledge of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of foreign language teaching methods and the ability to apply terms in practice, but also the ability to take into account the dynamics of the terminology system in connection with the emergence of new approaches and, accordingly, new terms, changes in the meanings of basic terms, and analyze them and apply in teaching activities in order to effectively solve professional problems. Important in this regard are the issues of monitoring the formation of the teacher’s terminological competence. The article, based on a level system for monitoring the formation of terminological competence developed by domestic methodologists, consisting of three components (subject-cognitive, intellectual-reflective, communicative-linguistic), offers sample tasks for assessing the level of formation of terminological competence of a Kyrgyz language teacher, who teaching as a second language.

The article is devoted to the problem of the development of the creative activity of students in grades 5–6 in the process of teaching mathematics. It is noted that the fulfillment of a creative task requires from students not a simple reproduction of information, but creativity, since the tasks contain a greater or lesser element of obscurity. A creative task is the content, the basis of any interactive method. A creative task (especially practical and close to the student's life) gives meaning to learning, motivates pupils. To develop the creative activity of students, you can use specially developed various software tools (Learning Apps, Mentimeter, Quzizz, etc.) in the lesson. With the help of a huge number of online services, you can create a whole collection of interactive tasks of the following nature: study an interactive lecture and answer the questions; answer questions of the test, quiz (with one or many correct answers); build a timeline and others.

The issue of improving the basic training of students in pedagogical higher education institutions vocational educational institution is discussed in this article. The article is devoted to the problem of preparation and implementation of an elective course in computer science as one part of the course of teaching high school students of physical and mathematical profile. Currently, specialties where a foreign language is used in its applied function, often as the means to study another subject area, are popular. This is due to the fact that many students want to use their English-speaking knowledge and skills in their future profession. It is possible to impart an applied nature and practical orientation through conducting elective courses that would familiarize the students with the basics of their future professional activity. The use of English for conducting elective courses contributes to the formation of communicative competence of students and the development of academic skills. The aim of the work is to create an elective course in English “Theory of Kolmogorov complexity”. Methodological basis of the research was personal-oriented, system-activity and competence approaches to teaching. The elective course proposed is the introduction of students into a new area of computer science - the theory of the complexity of information, which is closely related to cybernetics. The result of the study was the development of an elective course program in English, which includes not only a methodology for conducting and a plan of course, but also various types of assignments that contribute to better understanding of the material offered to students and can initiate research work on this topic. Particular attention is paid to communicative orientation, involving the use of English in the future professional activities of students. The results of the research can be applied in the practice of school instruction in computer science, and also serve as a basis for the preparation of teaching aids and special courses for high school students in physical and mathematical profile.
